The second Haryana Steelers vs Puneri Paltan Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 match promises to be a thriller for the fans. The two teams are scheduled to be in action at 8 pm on Wednesday (November 27) at the Noida Indoor Stadium.
Last year, the Paltan got the better of the Steelers in the summit clash to lay their claim on the championship trophy. They repeated the result in Match No. 4 of Season 11 in Hyderabad.
While Pune started their year on a strong note, they have seen some turbulence and have slipped to fourth in the standings. Meanwhile, the Steelers have only improved as the season has progressed, and are sitting atop the points table.
As the two teams prepare to take on each other tonight, here are three player battles that promise to impress.
Pro Kabaddi 2024, Haryana Steelers vs Puneri Paltan: 3 Player battles to watch out for
Shivam Patare vs Gaurav Khatri
Shivam Patare has been one of the best raiders for the Haryana Steelers. He made his PKL debut with the team last season, picking up 120 points in 23 matches. This year, Patare has built on that momentum and has already racked up 60 points. He has a strike rate of 52% and scored a Super 10 for the Steelers the last time he was on the mat.
On the other hand, Gaurav Khatri has been just as lethal a defender for the Puneri Paltan. The right-corner has played 12 matches this season and picked up 46 points with a tackle strike rate of 65%. As the Paltan look to get back to winning ways after a disappointing loss to the Jaipur Pink Panthers, Khatri will play a major role in the team's defense.
Vinay vs Abinesh Nadarajan
Vinay has been yet another attacking force for the Haryana Steelers. The right-raider is playing his fifth season for the team and has become a crucial element in their wins. This season, Vinay has picked up 84 points in his 12 matches, including three Super Raids and four Super 10s, with a raid strike rate of 44%.
Making the raider put in the work tonight will be the Puneri Paltan’s Abinesh Nadarajan who gave several fantastic performances last season and seems keen to build on that momentum. The right-cover has played 12 matches this season and has accumulated 27 points with a tackle strike rate of 48%.
Pankaj Mohite vs Mohammad Shadloui
The clash between Pankaj Mohite and Mohammad Shadloui will be one of the most interesting player battles in tonight's PKL match. The duo were teammates last year before Shadloui joined the Haryana Steelers. This year, Mohite has been a strong performer for the Paltan, scoring 59 points and racking up four Super Raids.
On the other hand, Shadloui has been just as impressive for the Steelers. The Iranian all-rounder has scored 45 tackle points, with a tackle success rate of 53%. He is the league's third-best raider and will give Mohite a tough time on the mat tonight.
