The Patna Pirates will take on the Bengal Warriorz at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in match No. 55 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) on Friday, November 15. The two teams are scheduled to be in action at 8 PM and fans can expect a closely fought encounter.
The Pirates have had a satisfying start to their season, and currently sit fourth in the standings with five wins and 28 points from nine matches. Meanwhile, the Warriorz have won three of their eight matches and are ninth in the points table.
Patna have displayed impressive form in season 11, recording wins over Puneri Paltan, Jaipur Pink Panthers, UP Yoddhas, Dabang Delhi K.C, and the Gujarat Giants. Their most recent outing saw them fall to the Haryana Steelers, but the team didn't go down without a fight.
Meanwhile, the Warriorz have also pulled off multiple promising performances this season. They beat the Haryana Steelers in match No. 31 a couple of weeks ago, and have managed to hold their own against the likes of Puneri Paltan and U Mumba.
On that note, here are three-player battles you need to watch out for in tonight’s PKL clash.
#1 Devank vs Mayur Kadam
Devank Dalal of the Patna Pirates has been enjoying a spectacular season. He has been on the mat for all of Patna's matches and has accumulated 100 points. Devank boasts a raid strike rate of 69 percent and has accumulated five super raids from nine matches.
On the other hand, Mayur Kadam has been just as impressive for the Bengal Warriorz, scoring 19 tackle points from the eight matches he's played. He has a tackle strike rate of 42 percent and an average of 2.25 successful tackles per match. Kadam was a right cover for the Pirates last year and scored 22 points in nine matches, and it will be interesting to see him in action against his former team tonight.
#2 Ayan Lohchan vs Nitesh Kumar
Ayan Lohchan is making his PKL debut this season alongside the Patna Pirates, and he couldn't have hoped for a better run. The youngster has played nine matches this season, scoring an impressive 71 points with a 57 percent raid strike rate. Lochan’s best performance so far came in the Pirates' victory over the Jaipur Pink Panthers, where he scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, making Lochan put in some work tonight will be Nitesh Kumar. After five seasons with the UP Yoddhas, the experienced right corner moved to the Bengal Warriorz this year and has been a strong force on defense for the team. He has scored 18 points in his eight matches, with a tackle strike rate of 45 percent.
#3 Nitin Dhankhar vs Deepak Singh
Nitin Dhankar had a fantastic Season 10 with the Bengal Warriorz, scoring 169 points across 20 matches. The raider has kept the same form alive this year, and is currently the team's top raider this season, scoring 72 points in eight outings. Dhankar has a raid strike rate of 46 percent and has scored four Super 10s this season.
Giving Dhankar a run for his money will be the Patna Pirates’ Deepak Singh. The right cover has scored 20 tackle points this season and boasts a success rate of 44 percent. He has delivered multiple impressive performances for the Pirates and has repeatedly proven to be a stronghold on the team's defense.
