UP Yoddhas and Jaipur Pink Panthers will square off in the Eliminator 1 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2024 on Thursday, December 26, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, in Pune
UP Yoddhas qualified for the Eliminator, finishing third on the points table with 13 wins and 79 points. They are coming off a 44-30 victory over the Bengaluru Bulls.
Last year, Yoddhas finished 11th and failed to qualify for the playoffs. However, this season, they have made a strong comeback and given themselves another huge opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for the PKL 11 trophy.
Meanwhile, the Jaipur Pink Panthers finished sixth with 12 wins and eight losses. They lost to Dabang Delhi KC 33-31 but qualified for the Eliminator with 70 points.
The last meeting between the UP Yoddhas and the Jaipur Pink Panthers came in the 35th match where the Panthers won 33-30. However, in the reverse fixture, the Panthers and Yoddhas delivered a thrilling encounter in Noida, with the Yoddhas winning 33-29 in the final minute.
Bhavani Rajput top-scored with eight points, while Gagan Gowda and Sumit, who earned a High-five, were instrumental in the win. Both teams started cautiously, with Jaipur gaining an early lead through Arjun Deshwal and Ankush Rathee.
However, the Yoddhas fought back with Bhavani’s multi-point raid and an all-out, gaining a six-point advantage. Jaipur rallied late in the first half, landing an all-out to lead 20-19 at halftime.
The second half was a seesaw battle as the lead changed hands multiple times. Gagan Gowda and Sumit helped the Yoddhas maintain a slender lead. Despite Jaipur’s late push, including a crucial tackle and Shrikant Jadhav’s quick raid, the Yoddhas held their nerve to secure a narrow four-point victory.
