The Pro Kabaddi League Season 5 caravan, after seven weeks of exciting action, is all set to reach its next destination Ranchi as the home leg of the Patna Pirates gets underway on Friday. The first match of the day will see the Pirates go up against the Telugu Titans, while in the second game, the Gujarat Fortunegiants will take on a resurgent U Mumba side.
The Fortunegiants had assumed pole position in the Zone A standings after a fine run at home that saw them come out unscathed with five wins and a draw. However, they were overtaken by the Haryana Steelers on Thursday, who won three points with a draw against the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
The Gujarat side have seen a dip in form of late, which has seen them remain without a win in three games. Their most recent result was a draw against the UP Yoddha, which ended 30-30. Their main man in attack has been Sachin Tawar, who is the youngest player in the PKL, and has set the scoring charts on fire.
However, he was subdued against the Yoddha in their previous match, after being named in the starting lineup but failing to score any point. He was substituted early into the match and then brought back, but was able to put in only four raids -- out of which two were successful and two unsuccessful.
In his absence, the other raiders put on a commendable show, with fans wondering if he was 100% fit or not. However, there is good news if you are a Gujarat supporter as the star raider is all set to return to the starting lineup, as confirmed by an official in the Fortuengiants management to Sportskeeda.
Sachin will look to make amends and put in a strong performance, especially against a U Mumba defence that has not looked 100% confident. However, question marks remain over Rohit Gulia's inclusion, who did not start against UP, and it is still unclear whether he will line up in tonight's encounter.
