The third season of the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi came to an end in New Delhi with Patna Pirates lifting the title by beating U Mumba 31-28 in the final. The third edition of the tournament was a terrific spectacle as it saw several exhilarating matches where the players gave it their all.
Plenty of new records were created and old ones were broken as the third season came to an end.
Here's a look at the third season in numbers:
101 - Most points scored in a match – The match between Dabang Delhi and Patna Pirates finished 67-34 in the champions' favour. This is the only match in the tournament's history which crossed the century mark.
67 – Most points scored by a team in a single match – Patna Pirates, in their title-winning season, broke Telugu Titans' record of most points scored by a team (60) by putting Delhi to the sword at their home, winning 67-34.
24 – Most points scored by a player in a single match – Patna Pirates' Pardeep Narwal amassed 24 points against the Telugu Titans to equal Kashiling Adake's record of most points scored by a player in a single match. Because the Pirates lost this match, Pardeep also holds the record of scoring most points in a losing cause.
0 - Team failing to win at home – Dabang Delhi got the dubious honour of becoming the only team to not win a single match at home in a season. With three losses and a draw, the Eagles failed to take advantage of the home support by failing to muster any success at home.
56 - Most successful tackles in a season – Puneri Paltan captain Manjeet Chhillar amassed 56 successful tackles this season – a Star Sports Pro Kabaddi record. With this, he also became the only player to muster 50 tackle points or more in a season twice.
60 – Most points in league stage – Three-time finalists U Mumba won 12 matches and lost just two in the league stage to amass the most points in the league stage. In the process, they equaled their own record of 60 league stage points which they racked up in the 2015 season.
47 – Most points by a 4th placed side – The race to the coveted top 4 spots got tougher this season with Bengal Warriors finishing fourth after getting 47 points – the highest needed to make the semis. In Season 1 and Season 2, the benchmark for semi-final qualification were 45 and 41 points respectively.
44 - Most points scored by a team away from home in a season – The Patna Pirates managed just two wins at home this season, but their away record was spectacular. They totaled 44 points on the road – the most by any team - en route to the title.
1 - Winning the title despite not being top of the table - Patna Pirates become the first team to win the tournament despite not finishing top of the table in the league stage. Season 1 and Season 2 winners Jaipur Pink Panthers and U Mumba, respectively, both ended the league stage at the summit of the table.
11 – Longest winning streak – With a winning run stretching 11 matches, U Mumba established another record. After losing two of their first four matches, the Mumbai franchise defeated 11 opponents in a row before coming up short against Patna Pirates in the final.
22 - Biggest half-time lead – The match between Jaipur Pink Panthers and Patna Pirates at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur saw the home team trailing 5-27, which is the biggest lead ever at half-time.
5 – Lowest points by a team at half time – The Jaipur Pink Panthers, with just 5 points in the match against Patna Pirates, amassed the lowest total by a team at the halfway mark of any Star Sports Pro Kabaddi match.
33 – Biggest defeat at home – Dabang Delhi's massive 34-67 loss to Patna Pirates got them another unwanted record - suffering the biggest defeat on home turf.
