First against Patna in Patna, then U Mumba twice and then against the Bengal Warriors at home, Dabang Delhi had tried and failed 4 straight times to land a win in the ongoing second season of the Pro Kabaddi League. And thus before the return fixture against the Pirates, the mood in the camp was pensive.
The usually affluent raiders hadn’t lived up to their billing recently and that added to their woes. A dismal 17 points scored against the Warriors stood testimony to the same. Last night though, a certain Rohit Kumar Chaudhary took it upon himself to change that bit.
With the 3rd raid for the Dabangs he scalped 3 of Patna’s defenders leading to their first all out. Minutes later, he repeated the feat, assuring the crowd present that the game had finally been taken to the visitors and the onus remained with his team. It didn’t come as a surprise thus that he was bestowed with the “Bid Impression Player of the Match” award.
Talking exclusively to SportsKeeda after the game, he said, “It feels really nice to perform and contribute to a win. This is our 1st win in 4 games and it’s deeply satisfying. I have been working really hard with Coach sir and the team and I am glad that’s showing in my performances.”
Asked if he had a specific game plan going in to the game, he asserted, “I am not someone who sneaks in a point everytime I raid. The whole point of me playing is to fetch atleast 2-3 points. Unfortunately that hadn’t been happening for 2-3 games now but last night I managed to get my act together.”
The teams resurgence is heavily dependent on his performances, as he mentions if ‘he can keep getting his act together’, the Dabangs are likely to go a long way in this year’s Pro Kabaddi League.
