What's the story?
Defending champions Services Sports Control Board with star raider Pardeep Narwal having shifted base ahead of the start of the 2017 Senior National Kabaddi Championships, which will see the dubki specialist represent Uttarakhand for the ongoing edition of the competition.
In case you didn't know
Plying his trade for the Services team last season, Pardeep won the 'Player of the tournament' award for his outstanding raiding and continued his good run with the Patna Pirates in the Pro Kabaddi League with whom he won the title in 2017.
The heart of the matter
Agile and smart with a unique methodology of raiding, Pardeep has given the best of defenders nightmares and is one of the best raiders going around. Possessing a skill set with an array of different ways of scoring points, Pardeep has gone about his raiding without much fuss, underlining his authority all over the world.
The talented 20-year-old has transformed into one of the world's best raiders ever since his PKL 3 title victory with the Patna Pirates. From 64 matches in the Pro Kabaddi League, the Patna skipper has amassed a total of 632 points and has a plethora of records against his name.
The Services team boasts of some big names such as Nitin Tomar, Surjeet and Pardeep's partner in crime from the Pirates, Monu Goyat but Pardeep's presence in the line-up will be sorely missed with his ability to single-handedly win matches for his team.
Uttarakhand, on the other hand, will take this as a shot in the arm which will not only strengthen their chances of lifting the title, Pardeep's addition to the team will also be a major influence on the youngsters.
What's next?
The National Championships will continue in Hyderabad which will see top-flight stars taking on each other in an inter-state battle.
Author's take
Pardeep's presence in the Uttarakhand ranks will be a massive boost to the lineup and it will be interesting to see how he contributes to their campaign this time around.
