Day 2 of the 65th Senior National Kabaddi Championships witnessed a total of 38 riveting encounters - 20 men's and 18 women's clashes, which were played out in front of the vociferous crowd that turned out in large numbers at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
In round 1 of the day's clashes, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab locked in at 36 points apiece while Telangana and Bihar produced the second tie of the day at 32-32. Rahul Chaudhari's UP got their campaign off to a bright start with a massive 48-17 win over BSNL while Delhi got the better of Jharkhand with a 55-32 win.
Next, Vidarbha crashed to their second loss of the competition by a huge 84-19 margin against the star-studded Services line-up while Maharashtra piled on more misery onto the J&K team by inflicting a 68-13 loss on the team from the North which lost it's first match yesterday against Karnataka.
On the other hand, Railways and Haryana collected their first wins of the season with a 46-20 win over Bengal and a 42-22 win over Kerala respectively.
In Round 3, Ajay Thakur (Himachal Pradesh) and Rahul Chaudhari (Uttar Pradesh) went head to head in what was billed as the battle of the raiders that saw UP gaining a sizeable 33-15 lead at half-time which they carried forward for a 56-39 win in the end. In the Pool F clash, Rajasthan won 42-38 over Delhi.
Pardeep Narwal's supreme presence in the Uttarakhand ranks saw them overcome tense moments in the final few minutes to clinch a 51-45 victory against Madhya Pradesh while Tamil Nadu overturned a half-time deficit to surge towards a 35-23 win against Telangana.
Kerala continued their good run this season with yet another crushing win, this time a dominating 77-15 win over Assam while J&K exhibited some toothless display to crumble to their third loss this season, a 23-37 loss against Pondicherry.
West Bengal bounced back from a defeat in their first game of the day against Railways to register a 37-32 win against Chhattisgarh while Madhya Pradesh's electric start propelled them to a resounding 56-17 win over Tripura to register their first win of the competition.
In the final round of the day, Uttar Pradesh's gigantic 30-9 lead at the end of the first half transpired into a big win in the end as they collected eight more points in the second half to win 38-17 over Tripura.
Home side Telangana rose from a defeat in their previous encounter to register a thumping 46-19 win over Chandigarh while the hotbed of Indian Kabaddi, Haryana, boasting of an array of stars such as Surender Nada, Manjeet Chhillar amongst others did well to motor along in the second half and register an important 46-28 win against Odisha.
In what turned out to be a thrilling battle of superstars, Karnataka overcame the stiff challenge posed by Services to came out on top with a 41-31 win to make it two wins out of two matches and round up the day's men's clashes.
