In Match No. 75 of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 5, the Tamil Thalaivas will clash against the UP Yoddha at the Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Sonepat, Haryana.
The two teams from Zone B have met earlier in the season during the Lucknow leg, where the match ended in a thrilling tie.
The teams are coming into this encounter on the back of contrasting results, with the Tamil Thalaivas losing their last match against the Bengal Warriors back in Kolkata while the UP Yoddhas settled for a draw against the Gujarat Fortunegiants.
The Tamil Thalaivas have not had a very good season so far in this edition, with six losses from nine matches and they will look to go out all guns blazing against the Yoddha. The team is led by star raider, Ajay Thakur who has embarked on some good form in the recent fixtures and is supported by the likes of K Prapanjan and D Pradap.
The defence is led by Amit Hooda who operates in the corner position and is assisted by the experienced campaigner, C Arun who is a key man when it comes to body blocks and holds. Darshan J has also come to the fore with his tackles while the foreign import Dong Geon Lee and M Thivakaran come on as substitutes and make vital contributions to the scoreboard with their raids.
The UP Yoddha, on the other hand, has a had a mixed run in the tournament so far with four wins, five losses and four draws under their belt so far from 13 matches. Their attack comprises of young stalwarts in the likes of skipper Nitin Tomar and Rishank Devadiga who spearhead the attack while they are assisted by either Mahesh Goud or Surender Singh as the third raider.
All-rounder Rajesh Narwal has had a poor string of performances in the season and needs to buck up before it is all too late. The defence is led by veteran Jeeva Kumar, alongside the young guns Nitesh and Sagar Krishna who have been pretty consistent with their tackle rate and have a good strike rate in the Super Tackles as well.
Tamil Thalaivas vs UP Yoddha match prediction
If one has to call the match, it would definitely be in the favour of the UP Yoddha primarily given their strong attack with the likes of Nitin and Rishank which can create a dent on the young defenders of the Thalaivas.
Moreover, their defence is also a major force to reckon with and if it manages to keep Ajay Thakur out of the equation for an increased period, they will be well poised to win the match.
