The UP Yoddhas and the Haryana Steelers go head-to-head in the 26th match of Pro Kabaddi 2024 on Wednesday, October 30, at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad.
The Yoddhas have been one of the best teams so far, registering three wins in four. A win in tonight's match could see them leapfrog the Puneri Paltan to go top of the points table.
However, they will face a stern test in the Haryana Steelers, who are on a run of good form on their own. They have won their last two matches, and with captain Jaideep Dahiya back in the starting 7, look like a formidable opponent.
This Northern Derby should be a thrilling contest and here are three surprise Dream11 picks who could shine.
#3 Sanjay (DEF) (HAR) (11.5 Credits)
Former Patna Pirates man Sanjay seems to have cemented his spot as the first-choice right cover for the Haryana Steelers. While plenty of rotation surrounded that spot before their last outing, Sanjay scored four tackle points against Dabang Delhi KC, making him the team's primary right cover.
It's a position from which Mohit Nandal scored plenty of tackle points for the Steelers last season and Sanjay could benefit from playing alongside such strong defenders. At 11.5 credits, he's the right price for an enabler and should be a decent Dream11 surprise pick.
#2 Mahender Singh (ALL) (UP) (11 Credits)
One of the best left covers in PKL history, Mahender Singh could be a great Dream11 surprise pick for your teams.
Once one of the most sought-after defenders in the league, it is a surprise to see Mahender Singh go under the radar now. He is the starting left cover for the Yoddhas after a few other players didn't impress in earlier games.
Mahender's record speaks for him, with the defender scoring 300 tackle points in just 129 matches. He's 13th on the all-time list of best PKL defenders and his experience could come real handy for the Yoddhas.
Against multiple left raiders in the Haryana camp, Mahender could be the most important defender for the Yoddhas. He's a solid Dream11 surprise pick.
#1 Vinay (RAI) (HAR) (13.5 Credits)
One would never have thought that Haryana Steelers' lead raider Vinay would have such low ownership that he would be called a differential. But a below-par previous outing against Dabang Delhi sees him in this position.
Considering how well he spearheaded their raiding department last season, there should be no doubting how good he is. He scored 163 raid points in PKL 10 and has started decently this season, picking up 18 raid points in three matches.
Vinay was his side's best raider in a 37-25 win over Jaipur a week ago, and against a UP Yoddhas defense that has looked suspect at times, he could rack up the raid points and produce a big Dream11 haul.
