Little Sleepies of Sherman Oaks, California, has issued a nationwide recall for over 450,000 units of Sleepyhead Loveys and Bandana Bibs blankets over choking hazard concerns. The affected blankets may have an issue with the 'care instruction labels,' which could cause them to detach over time, thus posing risks of a choking hazard if swallowed by children.

Announced on October 12, 2023, the voluntary recall was initiated in conjunction with Health Canada, Little Sleepies, and the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC). While there have been two reports of incidents where the 'care instruction labels' on the blankets were found to have detached, there have been no cases of an injury or casualty.

For those concerned, the affected Sleepyhead Loveys are mostly used as security blankets for toddlers and babies. On the other hand, the Bandana Bibs are often used when feeding babies or toddlers to protect their clothes from spills or falling food. These blankets also come in handy for teething and drooling toddlers or babies.

More details about the Little Sleepies product recall

According to Little Sleepies' recall notice issued on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, the nationwide voluntary recall affects over 450,000 Sleepyhead Loveys and Bandana Bibs blankets. At least 3,331 units of these blankets were also sold in Canada. Feared to have an issue with the 'care instruction labels,' the affected blankets are feared to be a choking hazard.

Available in a wide range of colors and patterns, the affected blankets were sold through major boutique stores across the United States and Canada. The recalled Sleepyhead Loveys and Bandana Bibs blankets were also sold on the brand's website - www.littlesleepies.com.

Manufactured in China, the recalled blankets were priced at over $12 and $48. Consumers may have been able to purchase these blankets from stores in their respective regions between February 2021 and September 2023.

Consumers or parents who may have purchased any of these blankets within the last few months and may still be using them for their toddlers and babies are advised to remove the labels to eliminate the choking hazard. The removed labels should be disposed of safely in a trash can.

The recalled Little Sleepies blankets can either be kept after removing the labels or returned to the establishment (Image via CPSC)
