A clinical show by the Melbourne Stars in a crucial contest. They've had a couple of their games rained out in recent times but this will please them to no end. They've put on a stellar all-round display to bring the Adelaide Strikers' four-match winning streak to a screeching halt.

It was all set up by a blitz of the highest order from Tess Flintoff, who smashed the record for the fastest WBBL fifty, getting there in 16 deliveries alone. A total of 187 was always going to be a challenge and upon losing Deandra Dottin early, the ordeal only got tougher for the Strikers. Laura Wolvaardt found the fence and cashed in on an array of long hops from Alice Capsey and it seemed like today was the day she would put her modest season thus far behind her.

Katie Mack found her mojo too and the Strikers were up to the task. But the Stars' fielding today was out of the world. Sasha Moloney plucked a stunner at short mid-wicket to send Wolvaardt packing and once Tahlia McGrath was yorked by Sophie Day, it seemed as though it was getting out of hand.

Bridget Patterson launched a sensational counter-attack in the Power Surge though to keep them afloat after Mack was dismissed right at the start of that two-over phase. The seamers though, did well to mix it up in terms of their pace and lengths to tie down the batters. Madeline Penna also went hard at the bowlers, but the asking rate got out of bounds after a point. Annabel Sutherland joined Maloney in pulling off a spectacular catch, having started with one to send Dottin on her way back and if anything, it summed up a day where nothing could go wrong for the Stars.

So Nicole Faltum and Co. have wrapped up a convincing victory, moving up to sixth position in the points table. Things are starting to come together and the signs are promising ahead of the second half of the tournament. As for the Strikers, they will view this as a minor blip and move forward, as they remain in third spot behind the Sixers and the Scorchers.

A superlative performance by the Melbourne Stars and the Strikers' four-match winning streak has been brought to a halt. What a comprehensive display across departments by Nicole Faltum and Co. and they get their second win on theb oard!
