That brings us to the end of our coverage for this series. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as we have! On the behalf of the entire team, this is the pair of Darpan Tikiya and Bidipto Datta signing off. Sayonara!
10:28pm local time [11:58pm IST]: Hashmatullah Shahidi wears a wide grin on his face as he collects the trophy. He then walks towards his team, who are standing together behind the banner that reads "CHAMPIONS". Shahidi hands the trophy over to Sediqullah Atal, who is standing in the middle of the group and the celebrations begin.
Hashmatullah Shahidi (Afghanistan Captain): I am very happy as a captain about the way my team performed. Proud of my team. Honestly, we were a little bit disappointed when we lost the toss. The way the ball behaves in the second innings, chasing can be a little difficult. But credit to the boys, they played really well. Gurbaz is a match-winner player. Whenever he scores runs, it does a lot for a team. He is very talented. I hope he takes the momentum to the next series and the Champions Trophy as well. the way we are playing right now is very good. If you see, each and every game, a new guy is performing. We have Zimbabwe up next. We want to win that series and then take the momentum to the Champions Trophy.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz (Bangladesh captain): It was a tough job! The boys played pretty well. Mahmudullah and I strung together a good partnership, but we needed to bat a bit better in terms of not losing wickets in the middle. Credit has to go to Afghanistan and their batters. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai were superb! Nahid Rana is bowling well, no doubt! We are playing after a long time in Sharjah, so that was tough. But now, our focus will be on the tour of the West Indies.
Mohammad Nabi (Player of the series, 129 runs and 2 wickets): I had it in my mind since the last world cup to retire, but then we qualified for the Champions Trophy. So I thought let me play it once. It is small-small contributions from my side. Talking to the youngsters in the dressing room and on the field. I constantly talk to guys like Ghazanfar and Kharote about what to bowl. Last series, I did not perform well with the bat. So, I worked hard. I told Omarzai to play with the straight bat, pick up singles and wait for the bad ball.
Azmatullah Omarzai (Player of the Match, 4/37 and 70*): It was tough for me after two bad games, but today I was positive with my stroke-play and that worked well. Rahmanullah Gurbaz was there, so even if I took some time, he would help out with runs. That definitely helped. Wicket was slow, and it was important to vary the pace. Rashid Khan told me to do so and it came off. I never bowled in the final few overs, so the pressure was on. Hence, this too is satisfactory. This is my first Player of the Match award, so I'm really thankful!
The post match presentation is coming up in a bit. Hang around.
Afghanistan win by 5 wickets and take the series 2-1.
Afghanistan continue to go from strength to strength in the 50-over format. After defeating Ireland and South Africa last month, they have now trounced Bangladesh to complete their third consecutive series win.
The standout performer today was Azmatullah Omarzai, who picked up 4 wickets with the ball to peg the visitors back early on and then, scored a responsible 70* with the bat to take his team home. A special mention to Rahmanullah Gurbaz who notched up his 8th ODI century today.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Bangladesh were in trouble early. They had lost 4 wickets within 15 overs and required a huge partnership between stand-in skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mahmudullah to take them to what looked like a defendable score. Mahmudullah missed out on his century by just two runs.
Though, in the end, 245 did not prove to be enough. Bangladesh had their moments with the ball. Nahid Rana, in particular, had a stupendous debut. He bowled at pace, got some movement off the seam and even made Gurbaz hop around like a cat on a hot tin roof. Nasum Ahmed bowled a miserly spell, Mustafizur Rahman contributed with a couple of wickets.
But in the end, Afghanistan got over the line with 10 balls to spare. Gurbaz's knock was full of vigour and panache and set the foundation. Nabi's cameo was the catalyst that propelled them close to the finishing line. And in the end, it was Omarzai's calmness that took them home.
Omarzai finishes it off with a flamboyant strike and yells out in joy while punching the air! This is the third consecutive ODI series win for Afghanistan.
48.2 Shoriful Islam to Azmatullah Omarzai, AZMATULLAH FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE AND SEALS THE SERIES FOR AFGHANISTAN! Length delivery on off-stump. Omarzai backs away and bit and clobbers it high and handsome over long-on for a maximum to finish the match!
48.1 Shoriful Islam to Mohammad Nabi, over the wicket, good length ball on off-stump. Inside-edged off the big heave across the line on the back foot, on to the pads. But then, they collect a quick single too!
Shoriful Islam [8-0-54-0] to bowl now.
This exuberant cameo from Mohammad Nabi has brought Afghanistan within hitting distance of victory. They just need another 6 runs to win off 12 balls.

47.6 Mustafizur Rahman to Azmatullah Omarzai, short on leg-and-middle. Omarzai gets on top of the bounce, stays leg-side of it and taps it down to the left of the bowler for no run.
47.5 Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi, good length ball on off-stump. Knocked down to long-off on the up for a single to rotate strike.
Under 10 needed now. Afghanistan supporters on their feet. Shoulders drooping in the Bangladesh camp.
47.4 Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi, FOUR MORE! Dragged down around off-stump with a hint of pace taken off. Pulled away hard to the deep square-leg fielder's left off the back foot for a boundary!
Rana cannot cut it off this time. Afghanistan now need only 11 more runs to win. 15 balls remaining.
47.3 Mustafizur Rahman to Mohammad Nabi, FOUR RUNS! Full and slow on off-stump. Nabi wanted to loft it over mid-off and ended up slicing it past the left of backward point and right of third man for a boundary!
