With that being said, Afghanistan have claimed an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3 match series and would play a dead rubber on the 25th January 2022 as Netherlands would play for their pride. Afghanistan beat Netherlands by 48 runs!

Afghanistan who won the toss and opted to bat first would not have been satisfied with their score of 237 but will be pleased with their bowling effort after they were successfully able to defend it and win by 48 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz who scored a vital century enable his team to post 237 and the bowlers did the rest of the job of ensuring a series win

It got wrapped up rather too quickly, isn't it! That was a bridge too far for the Dutch once Scott Edwards departed. He was the lone batter who batted through despite some challenging balling, conditions and lack of batters at the other end. There were plenty of near misses and near edges but Afghanistan continued to be disciplined. Edwards and de Leede did show some resistance but that was never enough as they fell behind with the run rate. The task kept getting stiffer and towards the end, Netherlands had left themselves too much to achieve. Afghanistan clinch crucial 10 points and a series win.

Fareed Malik Ahmad returned with match figures of 9-0-29-2 and was well supported by Mujeeb ur Rahman and Yamin Ahmadzai at different stages in the game. As far as Netherlands were concerned they had only one river lining in the match and that was Scott Edwards who missed out on his well deserved century.
