Abdul Shakoor: It was hard. After a long time, we were playing in a day match. It was good. We have batted together in domestic games previously. The wicket was good and we decided to play our shots.

Match Summary: Ajman beat Emirates Blues by 9 wickets.
An absolute breeze in the park in the end for Ajman. 110 is never easy to chase in 10 overs and mind you, it could have been much more had their seamers not pulled things back with Ansh Tandon going all guns blazing with the bat for Emirates Blues. What followed in the second innings though was sheer carnage!
Abdul Shakoor and Sagar Kalyan came out taking the attack to the bowlers and not letting them settle one bit. Sabir Rao was taken apart for 16 runs off the first and once Zawar Farid was meted out even more severe treatment and 41 runs came off the first two overs, it seemed like this game was only headed one way. It was Shakoor who dictated terms as he rocketed along without any fuss. He was given a lifeline the next over when a sitter went down in the deep but it just summed up everything that was to go wrong for the Blues.
Kalyan then took over and matched his partner shot for shot. Clearly, he was in a real hurry himself as he butchered Akasha Tahir for five consecutive sixes, even forcing the umpires to change the ball not once, but twice, having sent it disappearing out of the ground. The openers racked up belligerent half-centuries and almost got the job done themselves, only for Alishan Sharafu to nip Shakoor in the bud.
It was just a consolation though for the Blues skipper, as Kalyan duly wrapped things up with 19 deliveries to spare, tonking Adithya Shetty down the ground to seal a thumping victory for Ajman, who begin their Emirates D10 campaign in style. Loads to work on though as far as Emirates Blues are concerned and they will hope that this was nothing but an aberration. Time will tell if that is indeed the case of course!
That's some way to finish it off alright! Fitting that Kalyan has the last say in this contest as he wraps things up in style. What a victory for Ajman!
