VOC Rotterdam beat American University of Malta by 7 wickets!
Pieter Seelaar 61* (23) | Ramdas Upadhyaya 2/25 Basil George 58* (33) and 2/18
What we saw here was the exact anticlimax of what we had anticipated. And that is how cricket is at times. It has the power to surprise you and give you results that you had not dared to imagine in your wildest dreams.
Former Netherlands skipper Pieter Seelaar, who was forced to retire in the 2022 series against England owing to a long-standing back injury, came back in this competition to turn up for V.O.C Rotterdam and won the game single-handedly for his side tonight.
The American University of Malta will have only themselves to blame. They were looking well on course for 150 at one point, but the last couple of overs in their innings went inexcusably quiet, and this allowed the Dutch to come back into this game.
Rotterdam took that momentum into this innings, and Seelaar walloped to a brilliant half-century of his own to cement things for his side. Rotterdam might still not make it to the top four in this group, but this win will give them a huge boost of confidence for sure!
8.4 Jaspal Singh to Arnav Jain, SIX! GAME, SET AND MATCH! VOC Rotterdam stormed home to victory in a canter. Thanks to a blistering knock from Pieter Seelaar who remains not out on 61 off just 23 deliveries. Full toss again and Jain sends it sailing over deep mid-wicket fence for another maximum.
8.3 Jaspal Singh to Pieter Seelaar, low full toss on the pads. Seelaar clips it to deep square-leg for one.
8.2 Jaspal Singh to Pieter Seelaar, FOUR! That is sloppy from the short fine-leg, should've stopped and it's disastrous for AUM. Length delivery on the pads, Seelaar clipped it and the fielder gets to it and let's it through.
8.1 Jaspal Singh to Arnav Jain, length delivery on the stumps from around the wicket. Was in the slot as Jain swings, mistimes it to deep mid-wicket for one.
Jaspal Singh, right arm medium, comes into the attack.
Rotterdam can do it by a couple of big hits now! Seelaar has been the star so far.

7.6 Varun Prasath to Pieter Seelaar, SIX! BAM! Friendly full toss into Seelaar on the off-stump. Swings across and SMOKES it over deep mid-wicket fence for a maximum.
7.5 Varun Prasath to Pieter Seelaar, full and just outside the off-stump. Seelaar looks to drive but gets the inside edge to short fine-leg. They finish the single and the keeper doesn't collect the throw, they come back for a couple, sloppy work!
7.4 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, full and well outside the off-stump. Jain drilled it down to long-off for just a single.
7.4 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, WIDE! Full but goes outside the tramline again, another wide.
7.3 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, DROPPED! Went straight into the hands of the keeper and he shells it down. Jain walks across off-stump to ramp the full toss, spooned it straight to the keeper who juggles but doesn't cling on.
7.3 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, WIDE! Yorker but goes outside the tramline, called a wide.
7.2 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, OH! Back of a length on the fourth stump. Jain swings and takes the outside edge, that doesn't carry to the short third fielder.
7.1 Varun Prasath to Arnav Jain, EDGED AND FOUR! Length delivery on the fifth stump. Jain throws his bat at it, takes the outside edge and that flies down to third-man and finds the ropes.
Varun Prasath [1-0-13-0] comes back into the attack.
A somewhat risky run to end this over. The American University of Malta have thrown their last dice by bringing George back into the attack. However, not a lot has worked for them so far.
