It is amazing how remarkably things can change over the course of a Test Match. What started off seeming like a nightmare for the Indian fans three days ago has finished in a fashion that will make some of them wonder if it is actually a dream. Pinch yourself, folks. It is indeed real. It is only the second time in history of Test cricket that India have won the first match on a tour to Australia and the only time that the hosts have failed to secure a win at the Optus stadium. Though, if Aussies are looking for some inspiration to bounce back from this loss, they don't have to look to far. India were far from favourites coming into this match. However, for now, there is ample time to reflect, reassess and regroup. The second Test begins in 10 days time and most of us expect Australia to come back prowling. Having said that, the series is set up nicely. On that note, it is time for Darpan Tikiya and Arya Sekhar Chakraborty to bid you goodbye and sign off on the behalf of the entire team. Jasprit Bumrah is the Indian captain and also the Player of the Match: Yeah very happy with the beginning. We were put under pressure and then came back strongly. Very happy with their response. You know I played here in 2018 I remembered that the wicket starts off soft and then gets quicker. This one was just a little less spicy. I told the guys to follow the process and have faith in their abilities so on a given day experience does matter but it is how you perform on the day. Jaiswal had a great start to his career but this is the best Test innings he has played. He left the ball very well. Virat wasn't out of form, to be honest. He was looking very good in the nets and hopefully, he will go on from strength. The team is putting in a lot of effort so it feels good when the backing is there.
Pat Cummins is the Australian captain, here is what he had to say: Yeah fairly disappointing. The prep was really good but nothing went right and fair bit to look ahead for the next well. We will take a couple of days rest and then will go to Adelaide. Late on Day 1 if we could have gotten through that period, things could have been different. Yeah look there is a lot of experience there. They work really work but we have some work to go. Conversation around and see what we could have done differently.

Jasprit Bumrah and his men have scripted a fairytale in Perth. Three days back, at this hour, it felt like doom and gloom for the Indian fans. They were skittled out for 150 after choosing to bat first. Moreover, they were coming off perhaps their worst month of Test cricket in a decade. It was hard for even the most fervent fanatics to be optimistic.
But one man believed. The stand-in skipper stood up like a genie, fulfilling the wishes and prayers of the Indian cricket devotees. Bumrah made the ball talk in a language that the Australians found hard to comprehend. The magic soon rubbed on to the rest of the bowlers. Siraj and Rana chipped in and before the hosts knew what hit them, they were staring down at the possibility of registering their lowest Test score against India. A stubborn last wicket partnership between Starc and Hazlewood helped them go past that threat but India had picked up a useful first innings lead of 46 runs.
And then, the fairytale turned utopian. Jaiswal scored a century, KL Rahul appeared to be at his best, debutant Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with a cameo and Kohli scored his 30th Test hundred to go past Bradman. India declared late on Day 3 and left for Australia a mountain to scale. And then, Bumrah worked his magic again. Siraj too breathed fire and Australia were left reeling at 12/3 at stumps.
Today, the possibilities of a miracle were thrown out of the window just as quickly. Khawaja nicked one to Pant even before some of the spectators could find their seats at the stadium. Head offered some resistance with his counter attacking 89, but was eventually routed out by the Indian captain. What followed were mere formalities.
Smiles, handshakes and a lot of hugs going around. India have scripted a fairytale in Perth. The DJ blasts "Chak De India" and the celebrations begin.
