Time for me (Sourabh) on behalf of Darpan and the entire team to draw curtains on Day 2. This test match can go either ways, there are 3 full days left but I doubt whether we will need even 2 of them with the pace things have progressed. India are effectively 145/6 with Jadeja and Sundar at the crease and clouds over Bumrah's fitness which is a huge factor. Australia would not want India to add many runs to their lead and then come out with the bat and get the job done. Day 3 tomorrow could well be the final one of the test match as well as the series, join us 10AM Local Time (05AM IST) for all the action. You don't want to miss this!
One of the highlights of the day was Pant's whirlwind innings which started with a first-ball six to Scott Boland when he walked out to bat with India in a bit of bother at 59/3. Watch here 👇
It was yet another occasion when Virat Kohli nicked one to slips and departed for a low score in this tour. He was visibly frustrated by his dismissal this time and displayed angry reactions while walking off. Have a look 👇
Debutant Beau Webster speaks to the host broadcaster, here is what he has to say: "It has been a hell of a Test. It has played out in fast forward with all the wickets falling. I was happy to get runs. The good thing about the team is that you have backing for your natural game. It is a tussle. Plenty on offer for the quicks. That Pant innings took it away from us a bit. But we know that we are a wicket away from getting into the bowlers. (About the chase) Hopefully I will not be needed at number six, but if required I would be happy to do a job for my team."
An action-packed session and overall an action-packed day comes to end at the SCG with the test match tantalizingly poised at the end of Day 2 of play.
India had done really well to get the first-innings lead, albeit 4 runs and came out to bat in the final session of play. Jaiswal started the innings with four fours off Starc's first over and made the intentions crystal clear as India raced to 33 at the end of 5 overs with both the openers looking positive.
Enter Scott Boland then and the scene changed, he did not strike in his first over this time but did in his second over castling Rahul off a sharp nip-backer. He then accounted for Jaiswal in his next and then got Kohli edging to second slip a couple of overs later in a dismissal which was difficult to watch for a lot of Indian fans but sadly what has become a stock-standard thing in this tour.
Out walked Pant then with the most recent innings he played being the hard-working 40 in which he ditched away all his natural instincts and the fancy shots which has made him successful so far and this time he skipped down the track on the very first ball and pumped Boland over long-on for a maximum. The message was loud and clear and was even further amplified as he attempted a reverse scoop off the very next ball but did not connect
Gill became Webster's maiden international wicket as he tried to copy his partner's style but that did not deter Pant, he went beserk and raced off to a 29-ball fifty which was brought up by two consecutive sixes of Starc, both of whom were disdainful. Poor old Starc got a quite a lot of tap today
Cummins came back and eventually removed Pant for 61 and then the innings went into a lull. NKR tried to break the shackles towards the fag end but ended up chipping it to mid-off as Boland got another. Sundar and Jadeja then played safely through to stumps.

31.6 Scott Boland to Washington Sundar, final ball of the day: GETS RUNS! Full, off stump line, inviting the batter forward. Sundar lunges towards it before squirting it past gully.
31.5 Scott Boland to Ravindra Jadeja, a bit too straight from Boland. Good length, at the pads. Jadeja tucks it towars long leg and gets down to the other end.
31.4 Scott Boland to Ravindra Jadeja, full, at the stumps. Jadeja plants a small stride forward before presenting a stubborn defence.
31.3 Scott Boland to Ravindra Jadeja, a fraction fuller, a tad further outside off. Jadeja leaves.
31.2 Scott Boland to Ravindra Jadeja, TIGHT LEAVE! Good length, tailing in towards the off pole. Jadeja gets forward and shoulders arms. It was precariously close to the furniture behind him.
31.1 Scott Boland to Ravindra Jadeja, around the wicket, hard length, at the off stump. Jadeja dabs it towards cover, calls for a run. But Sundar is not interested.
A missed opportunity for Australia in that over or else India could have been 7 down by now. They still have one more over to try and take one with them to stumps, can they do it? Last over of the day coming up

30.6 Beau Webster to Washington Sundar, full, still outside off. Sundar shoulders arms.
30.5 Beau Webster to Washington Sundar, fuller, still outside off. Sundar does not see the need to play at it.
30.4 Beau Webster to Washington Sundar, good length, off and middle line. Sundar gets behind the line to block it.
That was going straight into the hands of Khawaja at first slip but Smith dived across and put it down, that could have been a telling blow
