Match Summary: Patriots beat Avengers by 7 wickets.
Jaswant Singh 27* (10) | Sasi Kumar S 2/2 (2) Hari Prasad A 14 (10) | Murugavel K 1/6 (1)
A thoroughly professional and clinical performance from start to finish by the Patriots. They lost the toss but that was just about all they got wrong as despite all those extras, they kept the Avengers down to a below-par total that was always going to be tough to defend from the latter's point of view.
Kashyap Prudvi bowled an excellent first over and it was quite surprising that he wasn't given a second given how he got the ball to swing. Virendra Pratap was run out for a golden duck with a sharp throw catching him short of his ground and once Panneer R failed to make up for a very slow start, the game was right back in the balance.
It turned out to be a case of momentary hope though for the Avengers as Jaswant Singh then launched a counter-attack and dispatched anything loose to the fence. He was duly assisted by Arunraj Shanmugam as the duo ate into the deficit and buried the contest for good over the next three overs. Even as Arunraj was trapped dead in front by Murugavel K, it was all but a bonus for the Avengers, who had to contend with a heavy defeat as Jaswant duly finished things off in style, taking the Patriots through to a comfortable win.
The Patriots will look to capitalize on this and ride a nice wave of momentum for the rest of the tournament. As for the Avengers, they will know that these are still early days but they'd want to work a lot on their batting in particular in order to bounce back at the earliest.
A fitting end to what was a thoroughly clinical run chase! As easy as it could have gotten for the Patriots who are off the mark in style for the tournament!
6.3 Hari Prasad A to Jaswant Singh, FOUR! PATRIOTS WIN! At the back of a good length around the fourth stump. Jaswant shuffles across to work it into the leg-side but gets a thickish outside edge that rolls past short third man. Patriots won by 7 wickets with 21 balls to spare!
6.3 Hari Prasad A to Jaswant Singh, wide. Searching for the wide yorker but he misses the tramline.
6.2 Hari Prasad A to Nitin Kumar S, pitched up in the channel outside off. Nitin taps it into the off-side and scurries across to the other end after being pushed through by his partner
6.1 Hari Prasad A to Jaswant Singh, full toss on the middle stump line. Jaswant pulls it to deep square legfor a single
A stoic front-foot defense off the final delivery. The Patriots can afford that although they'd want to wrap this up in this very over now and see that net run-rate skyrocket. Good bowling though from Murugavel and the Avengers will want to take as many positives out of this game as they can.

5.6 Murugavel K to Nitin Kumar S, floated up on the off-stump line. Nitin pushes it back to the bowler and a misfield allows a run to be sneaked
5.5 Murugavel K to Jaswant Singh, steps out to convert it into a low full toss, driving it down to long-off for a single
5.4 Murugavel K to Nitin Kumar S, on the good length at the middle stump. Nitin nurdles it around the corner to get off the mark
Nitin Kumar S, RHB, comes to the crease
That's absolutely stone dead! As easy as it gets for the umpire but alas, it could just be a case of 'too little, too late' for the Avengers.
5.3 Murugavel K to Arunraj Shanmugam, STONE DEAD LBW! Full and straight. You miss, I hit. Arunraj missed his sweep and got caught plumb in front, with the umpires' finger going up almost instantly. Probably too little too late for the Avengers though.
Arunraj Shanmugam lbw b Murugavel K 18 (15b, 3x4, 0x6)
5.2 Murugavel K to Arunraj Shanmugam, on the good length at the middle stump. Defended back to the bowler, no run
5.1 Murugavel K to Arunraj Shanmugam, FOUR! Short, wide, and asking to be hit. Arunraj cashes in, scything it uppishly past backward point to pick up a boundary
Murugavel K, left-arm orthodox, comes into the attack. Starts around the wicket.
Just the formalities remain now as the Patriots eye a resounding victory. They've duly cashed in on anything loose and in fact, this target could have been a lot lesser had their bowlers not bled as many extras as they did.
