Commentary

For now, this is Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Pradeep Somashekhar and the rest of the team at Sportskeeda. We hope you enjoyed our coverage as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you. Ta da!

So, Bangladesh have won consecutive ODI series against India for the first time in their history. They won the first time in 2015 and they've done it again in 2022. We were blessed with two thrilling games here in Dhaka and the hosts already have the series in the bag before we move to Chattogram for the final game of the series. Perhaps we'll see some new faces there with the Test match not far away either. The hosts will have an eye on the potential clean sweep come Thursday. And we'll be here to bring all the action from that game as well, of course.

Litton Das (Bangladesh captain): Feeling really happy. My first series as captain and we win the series. It's a dream come true. The boys played really well. (Batting plans) When we had to bat first, we said 240 is a good score here in Mirpur. We were under pressure for the first 20 overs but the way Mahmudullah and Miraz played was outstanding. I don't know what their conversation was in the middle but I'm really happy. (Rotating his bowlers) I try to handle my bowlers inside and outside the powerplay. I think if I continue with my main bowlers, that might leave me short at the backend. So, we keep rotating our bowlers around. (Next game) Definitely, we're going to keep looking to play some good cricket and get another win.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz is the Player of the Match for his sensational century that set up this win for them! Here's what he has to say: Really happy that I was able to contribute to the win. Last few years I worked hard and especially my batting, I worked with the coach, how to play in certain situations. Mahmudullah is the senior guy and he told that we will string in partnerships, let's not think too far but to bat out the situation and keep building on it. Great moment to pick up KL's and Iyer's wicket, I just kept bowling in the right areas. We've won the series, we will come back better in the next game.

Rohit Sharma (India captain): (On his thumb injury) Not great, bit of dislocation but luckily it's not a fracture and hence I could come out and bat. Honestly when you lose a game, there's positives and negatives, we allowed Bangladesh to get back into the game but the start was great, the middle overs and backend is hurting us, something that we need to realize quickly, time is not in our hands, not taking anything away from Mehidy and Mahmudullah, it was a brilliant partnership. In ODI cricket, it's all about partnerships, when you bat together you have to make that a match winning partnerships, about 100 or 130, it was tough for new batter to come in and go at it straight away, there's lot of things we need to look at, need to be brave and something that we've spoken in the dressing room as well. There are injury concerns, we need to get to the bottom of it, we need to monitor those guys and when they come back to India, they need to be 100% fit and have to sit down with the team, in NCA and try and figure out, monitor their workload.

It's memorable scenes at the Sher-E-Bangla stadium, that has witnessed two epic encounters in this series and more importantly, have seen their side come out on the right side of the result. That hasn't always been the case for the hosts against India, so they'll cherish this series victory with unbridled joy, as they should. As should their crowd.

If anything, this win reiterates their presence as one of the better One Day sides, especially in their own backyard. The results speak for themselves in that regard and this one is one from the top drawer, considering the fact that they were reeling at 69/9 in the first innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz's maiden ODI century got them to a solid total which seemed unlikely at one stage and the bowlers took over from there.

With Rohit Sharma injured, Kohli opened the batting alongside Dhawan. Neither of the openers were able to make an impact though with Ebadot and Mustafizur dismissing them within three overs. Sundar and Rahul did their bit to try and hang around with Shreyas but neither batter could contribute significantly in terms of runs.

However, Axar Patel provided Shreyas with enough support as the two notched up a 100-run stand to not only get India right back into this contest but also perhaps also helped them get their noses in front. That was until Shreyas got carried away and let them off the hook at a crucial stage, as did Axar. At that stage, Bangladesh would have felt like they'll cruise through to the finish line.

The Indian captain had other plans though. Forced in to walk at number nine, Rohit almost changed the game in the blink of an eye. His quickfire 51 off 28 balls ended up in a valiant knock, almost taking India over the line with 40 runs needed off the last couple of overs. With six needed off the final ball, Mustafizur Rahman held his nerve to nail his yorker and give Bangladesh a memorable series win and one to remember for the ages.

Bangladesh continue to march on, bagging their second series win against India. The crowd are certainly loving this home domination and so is the team. Let's hear what the captains have to say about this game. Stick around for the presentation.

49.3 Mustafizur Rahman to Rohit Sharma, FOUR MORE! Genius shot from Rohit. Another slower one, back of a length on the fourth stump, Rohit waits and gets the placement right as he cuts it past the backward point to his right, runs away and picks out the ropes again.

It doesn't matter how the boundaries come at this stage. India need 16 off 4. A boundary every ball, basically. Rohit will want to keep swinging. Expect The Fizz to take pace off the ball.
