That's all from us then! This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of my partner Mohul Bhowmick! See you soon!
Right so, it's a real shame that the game has been abandoned due to rain! Bangladesh would be really disappointed with this result since they were the firm favorites to win this game having posted 349 runs on the board! Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto played two great knocks early on before Mushfiqur Rahim stole the show with an incredible 60 ball 100! It turned out to be the fastest 100 by a Bangladeshi batter in ODI cricket and it set them up for a mammoth total.
Ireland will be really pleased with this result as chasing 350 on this Sylhet surface would have been a really uphill task for them! They will be going into the final ODI of the series 1-0 down but they will have a chance to level the series if they win that game! They might have Joshua Little coming into the side, so that might just give their bowling a little bit of an extra edge that they need so desperately at this stage.
We've got some unfortunate news coming in from the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium! The game has been called off due to rain! Bangladesh will head into the third game with a 1-0 lead.
Update 7:50 PM IST: Visuals suggest that the rain has let up, but there is no confirmed news on the start time. The cut-off for a twenty-over game is 9:06 PM Indian Standard Time. The covers are still on.
Update 7:15 PM IST: It's looking quite grim out there as the rain hasn't receded as the ground staff had expected it to be! Turns out it is more than just a passing shower!
Update 6:40 PM IST: It's still raining here in Sylhet and it's also looking pretty dark out there! The covers are firmly in place and it doesn't look like the play is going to begin any time soon! The cutoff time is 7:36 PM Indian Standard Time. Stay tuned for further updates!
Update 6 PM IST: Unfortunately, we have bad news for you. There was a forecast for rain, and it has come true. The covers are out at the venue, and the rain has increased to more than a slight drizzle. We will have to wait for now.
Welcome back for the chase! I, Mohul Bhowmick, will take you through everything that transpires, along with Soumarya Dutta.
Join us in a short while, as we say goodbye to Rajarshi Das here but welcome Soumarya Dutta for the onset of the Irish innings!
Innings break: Bangladesh have 349 scored in fifty overs.
Ireland need 350 runs at 7 runs per over to win this game!
Mushfiqur Rahim 100* (60) | Graham Hume 3/58 Najmul Hossain Shanto 73 (77) | Mark Adair 1/60
It was a Mushfiqur Rahim show here in Sylhet as he became the fastest Bangladeshi to score a One Day International century- off just 60 balls- but the others in the team had some part to play as well. Bangladesh lost their skipper Tamim Iqbal to an innocuous run out in the last over of the first powerplay but Litton Das and number three Najmul Hossain Shanto steadied the ship rather well.
Both of these batters took the attack to the spinners of the Irish and struck timely half-centuries of their own. Das was stupendous, using his feet to the spinner whenever they pitched up but it was Shanto's extraordinary sweeping skills that made the crowd stand up and applaud for each of the shots he played.
However, the real stars for Bangladesh were Mushfiqur Rahim and Towhid Hridoy, who slogged in the third powerplay and made sure that such a total was possible. Rahim was the leader, and he played some of the most fascinating shots one can imagine. He used the scoop to good effect and also brought the ramp out as and when the occasion demanded.
Hridoy too bandied about with the spinners, and used his feet to good effect. Although he departed in the 47th over falling just one run short of a fifty, Rahim carried on, and scored a scintillating century off just 60 deliveries.
Had Hridoy scored another run, he would have struck half-centuries in the first two innings he played in international cricket. Unfortunately, he missed out by a whisker. Bangladesh will be extremely pleased with themselves for having set this gigantic total on the board, and will back themselves to defend it against a hapless Irish batting unit.
And Rahim becomes the fastest Bangladeshi to score a century in One-Day Internationals! He gets there in just 60 balls. The hosts end just one short of 350, but will be happy with what they have on the board.

49.6 Graham Hume to Mushfiqur Rahim, there's the single he needed! A scintillating hundred for Mushfiqur Rahim! This was a low full toss on leg stump, Rahim merely tapped this one towards the man at deep mid wicket and completed a 60-ball hundred! He roars in delight having taken his helmet off! Bangladesh have put up their highest ODI total today, 349, in the allotted 50 overs!
Another couple! He is just one run short of a century now...
49.5 Graham Hume to Mushfiqur Rahim, full toss bowled straight, Rahim slammed this one towards wide long on, the man out there gets across to cut it off, they get a brace. Mushfiqur moves to 99....
A comfortable shot for Rahim! He moves on to 97! He has used the ramp to good effect.
49.4 Graham Hume to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR! Mushfiqur on a ramp-age! This was a low full toss on leg stump, Rahim shapes up for a reverse ramp, clears the man at short third and finds the boundary once again!
49.3 Graham Hume to Mushfiqur Rahim, yorker on leg stump, Rahim squeezed it out towards deep square. The call was for two straight away, and they get it comfortably
49.2 Graham Hume to Taskin Ahmed, full and straight, Taskin swings this one towards deep mid wicket for a single
Taskin Ahmed, LHB, is the new batter to the crease.
