Well, then. That brings us to the end of this contest. It was a fairly comfortable win for India, getting over the line without much of a fuss, led by the captain. Bangladesh have plenty to do to try and keep the series alive with the second game on Tuesday. Make sure you join us for the coverage of that one. For now, it's Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of my friend, Soorya Sesha. Thank you for joining our coverage. See ya!
Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is the Player of the Match for her unbeaten 54. Here's what she has to say: It was a great team effort. I thought we bowled really well especially the girls who played their first game. I wanted to see how they were going to bowl in the first six overs. Both of them bowled really well. It shows how much you are keen to bowl for the team. Deepti also bowled really well. She's an experienced bowler and she showed her character today. Smriti's always ready to give 100 percent for her team and it shows her character. When you have a batting lineup with Shafali and Smriti there you don't have to worry. But we wanted to finish it a few overs early today.
Nigar Sultana (Bangladesh captain): We were short by 20-25 runs. Appreciate the way the bowlers fought throughout and we're looking forward to the next game. (Batting) We played quite a few dot balls. So, that is something we need to correct in the next game.
Match summary: India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets and take a 1-0 series lead!
When Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana share a substantial partnership, it's hard to stop India from crossing the finish line. It was inevitable in a modest chase of 115 and that's exactly what transpired with India turning in a clinic to take the series lead after a dominant display with the ball restricted Bangladesh to a modest 114/5.
Marufa Akter struck early to trap Shafali Verma in front although Mandhana was not in any mood to get into a shell. She was happy to play her strokes, as was Jemimah Rodrigues even as she soon played onto her stumps to give the hosts a lease of life. But once Harmanpreet walked out and joined Mandhana, the duo waltzed through the middle-overs and rotated strike at will while punishing any scoring opportunity.
Bangladesh's spinners tried hard but they just didn't have enough to work with against two world-class batters. Mandhana and Harmanpreet unleashed their best shots at will and never showed signs of hanging back, taking the positive route quite often to shut the door firmly on the hosts. Mandhana's stumping off Sultana Khatun's bowling was inevitable but it was Yastika Bhatia who then gave her captain company to get the job done without any jitters.
Harmanpreet fittingly had the final say in the result as she clubbed a six to notch up her half-century before wrapping it up in style with a boundary. A clinical performance by the Indians who have taken the early lead in the series to leave Bangladesh with plenty to ponder over.
And that's how it's done! The captain finishes it off in style and wraps up a comprehensive victory for India. What a dominant display to go 1-0 up in the series!
16.2 Salma Khatun to Harmanpreet Kaur, FOUR! Game, set, match. Tossed up on the middle stump, Harmanpreet charges down the track and clatters it up and over the leg side, into the cow corner boundary. India win by 7 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the series!
Indeed she does! This was always coming and it brings up her 11th T20I half-century to go with a hundred.
16.1 Salma Khatun to Harmanpreet Kaur, SIX! Fifty for Harmanpreet Thor! Right in the slot, she clears her front leg and clubs it over mid-wicket to send the ball sailing over the boundary. Scores are level!
Very tight over but it's just delaying the inevitable. Surely, Harmanpreet will look to go big here and wrap things up?

Just the last rites remain in this contest with a 1-0 lead well in sight for India. All that remains to be seen is if Harmanpreet Kaur can get to her half-century. She can certainly do so with a couple of big strikes, sealing a win in the process.
