Bangladesh Women are out of the tournament now and Thailand Women, creating history, have progressed to the semi-finals of the Women's Asia Cup 2022.

They have been helped by India humbling Thailand by a whopping margin and the equation is clear - a Bangladesh win and they go through to the semifinals of the Women's Asia Cup 2022. A loss, and it will pave the way for Thailand to script history.

Of course, there's a third team that will play co-protagonist in this story - the UAE. Chaya Mughal and Co. have had their moments thus far, but a collective batting performance has simply gone amiss, meaning that they only have pride to play for. They can be rest assured that the entire Thailand team will be rooting for them to script something special on Tuesday in Sylhet.

If that is to transpire, a lot will come down to their assortment of talented bowlers, led by teenage sensations Vaishnave Mahesh and Mahika Gaur. Esha Oza turned in a three-fer against Pakistan and should come into her own again on a surface that has aided spin all through this tournament.

Most teams have struggled with the bat this campaign and it has been no different with the UAE. The only difference is they have been one of the better teams in batting out their quota of overs. There's just far too much reliance on skipper Nigar Sultana Joty and against a quality UAE attack, she needs the support cast, namely Murshida Khatun and Fargana Hoque Pinky, to step up. The bowling is in the safe hands of leggie Rumana Ahmed, who currently sits atop the wicket-takers' charts with 10 scalps (level with only Deepti Sharma). Sanjida Akter Meghla and Salma Khatun complete an extremely well-rounded spin attack while Jahanara Alam continues to do her bit with the new ball.

On experience and pedigree, the defending champions ought to start favorites in a must-win encounter. But that's where the catch is - nothing can be taken for granted and most certainly not at such a critical juncture in the competition. Even more so, when this Asia Cup has thrown up enough examples of teams defying the odds, meaning that the UAE will certainly fancy their chances.

They have the arsenal within their ranks to do it as well. And now, they also have a bit of extra support with the Thai team egging them on keenly. With the semifinal lineup yet to be decided as we head into the last day of the Round Robin stage though, we couldn't have asked for anything better in terms of a win for the tournament!
