That brings us to the end of a cracking ECS encounter. There are three more ECS matches still to come over the course of the day, so keep an eye on our tabs for our coverage of the same! This is Rajarshi, signing off on behalf of Bidipto. See you later!
Simranjit Singh will be a really proud man for his efforts in this game. Kings XI were down, and pretty much out of it at the halfway mark of the chase. There seemed no way back for them, their top-order had flopped badly, and the Bergamo CC spinners were achieving success in closing the game out. Simranjit, though, never believed in going down without a fight.
Of course, the extras from the Bergamo CC bowlers towards the latter stages were of help, but he still had to find and clear the ropes on a regular basis, with most of the regular batters departing. Baljit and Jaspreet Singh kept Kings XI to a mere 21 in the powerplay, keeping the lid on them by hitting the right areas. It was the spin duo of Dara Shikoh and Khurram Shahzad who gave very little away to the batters in the middle stages, and were successful in almost closing out the game. Almost.
Simranjit Singh received a couple of juicy, slot deliveries from Khurram at the start of the 7th over, and deposited them into the banks. That broke the shackles epically, and carnage ensued after that. Simranjit kept fighting as wickets fell at the other end. The Bergamo CC bowlers might have taken it a little too easy towards the end. There were too many beamers and strays-down the leg side for their liking, and Simranjit feasted on them.
Even with 34 required off the final over, Kings XI had a glimmer of hope with Simranjit still out there, and on strike. Jaspal Ram committed the sacrilege of conceding waist high full tosses and slot deliveries, and Simranjit brought the equation down to 16 off 4. Luckily of Ram, Simranjit left a delivery that was marginally inside the tramline in the hope of a wide being called. Ram kept his composure and bowled one delivery which took the equation out of Kings XI's reach, mathematically. Simranjit still managed to get 10 off the final two deliveries, but they weren't enough. Bergamo CC prevail!
The Kings XI, particularly Simranjit Singh, fought tooth and nail to get there, but they left too much for themselves in the end. Bergamo CC, who almost had the game in the bag halfway into the run-chase, prevail in the end after a major scare!

9.6 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, FOUR RUNS TO FINISH! BERGAMO CC WIN BY 3 RUNS! Good length ball outside off-stump. Simranjit goes right back and tries to swing it away over wide long-on. But all he manages is an outside edge that goes down to third man for a boundary! What a counterattack in the end from Kings XI though!

9.4 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, full on leg-and-middle. Drilled out to deep mid-wicket's left from the back foot for a couple of runs.
9.3 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, full and wide outside off-stump from round the wicket. A leave on line but it sneaks just inside the tramline! Dot ball.
9.2 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, FREE HIT! FOUR RUNS! Short around off-stump. Swung around to deep mid-wicket from the back foot for a single but a misfield gives away a boundary again!
9.2 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, FREE HIT! Short and too WIDE outside off-stump! Well taken by the keeper to his right.
9.2 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, SIX MORE! AND NO BALL FOR HEIGHT! Full toss over off-stump. Slammed over cow corner from the back foot for a massive maximum!
9.1 Jaspal Ram to Simranjit Singh, SIX RUNS! Full around off-stump. Simranjit goes right back and smacks it over long-off for a maximum! 50 up for the right-hander as well!
Jaspreet Singh must be considering himself a lucky man! The fact that he had such a large cushion of runs to defend before going for that many in the penultimate over must have given him some relief! Despite the fact that 21 came off the penultimate thanks to some Simranjit Singh heroics, Kings XI still need 5 sixes and a boundary to win this!
