Mignon du Preez: We had lost a bit of momentum in the last few games, but we are glad to win this game. A bit too close for comfort, but we will take it. Our batting and bowling has been pretty good but our fielding was something that we needed to work upon. The hustle by the girls was really nice today. They put in their best today. The surface was good to bat upon. The key was to play down the ground other than look elsewhere. Mushangwe bowled extremely well and it was quite challenging to play her.

It was a nail biting finish in the end and there was some intense drama which could have proved to be costly for the Brisbane Heat. But Bess Heath held her nerves and managed to get bat on ball to get them over the line. The Brisbane side have managed to break their losing streak and are back to winning ways with a hard fought victory here against a top side like the Strikers.

They didn't start off that well as Redmayne was dismissed early on as was Grace Harris. Amelia Kerr followed them soon after and they were in a spot of bother at that stage. But the veteran Mignon du Preez and Charli Knott put together a really well crafted partnership which got them through the tricky period and set them up for the chase. du Preez scored a free flowing 60 from just 49 balls and Charli Knott gave here good company as he notched up 21 crucial runs.

Towards the end it was Jess Jonassen who played some big shots and reduced the required rate but she was dismissed at the wrong time and the target was still left to be achieved at that stage. Georgia Voll and Bess Heath managed to knock off the required runs and it was the latter who held her nerve in the end and delivered the winning punch under pressure.

The bowling was good in patches for the Strikers but they lacked the cohesiveness for large parts in the innings. Zimbabwean leggie Anesu Mushangwe did really well to bring them back into the game with her tidy bowling but they had lost the game in between the 10th and 16th over when they conceded far too many runs. Schutt picked up a couple of wickets but she was quite expensive for her teams liking.
