Commentary

Chasing 321 might well have been a bit of a distant dream for Canada to chase down with the bat. However, they did not throw in the towel easily. They were adamant about putting up an effort. The partnership between Anoop Chima and Yasir Mahmood was critical in keeping Canada well in the chase, at one time. And just when it seemed to be falling apart for them post the dismissal of the two, there was a brilliant counterattack by Gurnek Johal Singh and Ethan Gibson.

For England, they would be happy with the result and winning comprehensively in both their games so far. They were brilliant with the bat in the first innings. Led by the skipper Top Prest, who displayed some excellent stroke-making in his knock of 93(93), England were able to post a mammoth score on the board. They would however want to ponder a little bit on not being able to close out innings with the ball and the team management might want to discuss it in more detail. They would also want to improve on their ground fielding, as there were plenty of chances going begging today, in the field for them. Overall, they should be pretty happy about how they are going in this tournament so far.

And Canada would believe they are no pushovers too, as there is plenty of potential in that camp.

Mihir Patel ( Canada Captain): Obviously quite disappointed. Credit to England. I think we weren't able to break the partnerships in their innings. Less experienced attack. I think that is something we focus on in training( on playing spin). Usually, we have a good powerplay and today was a good one as well. We also finished well with the bat but it's the middle over we need to be better at. Of course, we are gonna try to get a win. A lot of positives with the openers giving us a good start and a couple of other boys too chipping in for us.

Tom Prest (England Captain): Definitely, after losing the toss posting 320 was good and also to back it up with another good bowling performance. We practice the runouts in training but unfortunately not on the mark today with it in the field. We set the platform nicely with the partnership for the second wicket and then George finished the inning off well for us there at the end. We don't want to get complacent and would want to top the group winning three out of three.

Player of the Match, Tom Prest: Yeah it was a good performance from all of us with the bat, to get to 320. The pitch was a little bit two-paced, but it was nice to get out there and get some runs. It was great to get some wickets at the same time, once again Josh Boyden was the leader of our pack getting four more scalps to his name. It was pretty frustrating to get out in the nineties but it felt good to contribute in the victory.

48.1 Tom Prest to Harjap Saini, OUT! England win! Prest pitches it full and slightly outside off, Saini steps out of his crease, tries to drive it down the ground but he was beaten. The keeper was quick enough to react and take down the bails, as Saini was stumped, short of his ground!
