Sean Ervine (winning captain) : I thought we started really well, the openers set up nicely and the bowlers did a good job When we saw the first game, we decided that we will bat first and put runs on the board. They came back really well and put us under pressure
Cape Town Samp Army 118/5 in 10 overs Parthiv Patel 36*(13) | George Linde 2/19 Karim Janat 29*(12) | Azmatullah Omarzai 2/14
The game went far too close for Durban's comfort in the end but they've pulled it off by 8 runs in the end. The Samp Army had to chase a mammoth total and they lost their way halfway into the innings as they were five down. However, skipper Parthiv Patel and Karim Janat put on a huge partnership from that stage and brought them back into the game. They needed 15 from 3 balls at one stage in the final over but Chatara held his nerve to close the game out eventually for his side.
The bowlers were really good early on for the Qalanders as Linde and Omarzai picked up two wickets apiece. The former was superb as he bowled in the floating powerplay and yet managed to pick up two huge wickets. The likes of Rajapaksha, Williams, Zhuwao and Curran all departed in the span of just a couple of overs and it was the turning point in the game for the bowling side.
From there onwards it was always going to be their game. However, they dropped a few catches and provided the Samp Army with some extra chances towards the back end as they clawed their way back into the contest. In the end, it was the Zimbabwean veteran, Chatara who held his nerve and clinched the win for his side.
Overall, it was another superb game of cricket on the first day of the Zim Afro T10 and the Qalanders will be really happy to have got the win in the end and they will get those two crucial points. The Samp Army will be introspecting with regards to their bowling as well as their top order batting that led them down in the end.

9.6 Tendai Chatara to Parthiv Patel, FOUR! Full length delivery on the line of the off stump, Parthiv smashes that one hard and down the ground, finishing the innings with a boundary. An excellent innings from Parthiv comes in a losing cause as Durban Qalandars win by 8 runs
9.5 Tendai Chatara to Karim Janat, JOB DONE! Full-length delivery outside the off stump, Janat plays that one towards covers but only manages a single. Only a matter of managing the nerves as Cape Town need 13 runs in 1 ball
9.4 Tendai Chatara to Parthiv Patel, full-length delivery on the line of the line of the off stump. Parthiv hits that one straight down the ground but only manages a single. Cape Town needs 14 runs in 2 balls. Only a no ball could help them
Chatara is under enormous pressure and Parthiv Patel is turning it on here!! Can the Samp Army pull this game off from here on??
9.3 Tendai Chatara to Parthiv Patel, FOUR! Full length delivery on the line of the off stump, Parthiv goes deep into the crease and goes inside out, over covers for a cracking boundary
9.2 Tendai Chatara to Parthiv Patel, SIX! Length delivery outside the off stump, Parthiv moves across to the off stump and launches into that one, sending it over the ropes for a maximum
9.1 Tendai Chatara to Parthiv Patel, low full toss outside the off stump. Parthiv goes over the top of extra cover on that occasion and manages to pick up a brace
Tendai Chatara [1.0-0-11-0] comes into the attack.
Two huge sixes to end the penultimate over and Karim Janat has kept this game alive ever so slightly. The Samp Army need to get a massive 27 runs from the final over and do we have a twist in the tale?

8.6 Daryn Dupavillon to Karim Janat, SIX MORE! Full length delivery on the line of the off stump, Janat launches into that one and sends it sailing into the night sky for a huge maximum
8.5 Daryn Dupavillon to Karim Janat, SIX! Full toss going down the legside, Janat flicks that one nonchalantly and the ball goes flying over the ropes at fine leg for a maximum. Umpires are checking for a waist-high no ball here and it isn't
8.4 Daryn Dupavillon to Parthiv Patel, back of a length delivery on the leg stump. Parthiv looked to pull that one away but misses and has to settle for only a single
8.3 Daryn Dupavillon to Parthiv Patel, FOUR! Full and on the off stump, Parthiv hits that one through the line and manages to get a boundary on that occasion
8.2 Daryn Dupavillon to Parthiv Patel, length delivery on the line of the off stump. Parthiv pulls that one high in the air but it falls short of the fielder as the pair sneak in 2 runs
8.1 Daryn Dupavillon to Parthiv Patel, APPEAL! Length delivery on the line outside the leg stump, Parthiv looked to make room and go on the legside but misses as the ball brushes his pads on the way to the keeper
Janat hit a six of the final ball of that over but the run rate required is far too much at the moment. The Samp Army need 46 runs from the final two overs and the Qalanders are heading towards a big win here.
