The writing was on the wall for the British side ever since they got off to a poor start. Darmstadt were the better side throughout and managed to emerge victors over Hornchurch. If one were to go as far, the Germans have got one over the British in this game. One can also foresee results of a similar kind in the future.

For Hornchurch, apart from a small cameo by Christopher Sains, none of the batters put their hands up and said that they wanted to take up responsibility. Darmstadt, however, were served extremely well by the likes of Umar Khan and Shafiullah Niazi, who managed to keep the scoring rate down and picked up wickets at regular intervals as well.

Earlier in the day, Darmstadt were helped by a fascinating half-century by Muhammad Umar. He was also helped in his efforts by Azmat Ali, and one cannot really fault the duo as they played some fascinating shots. Hornchurch were found wanting in all aspects of the game today: batting, bowling and fielding. They will have to regroup quickly and pull their socks up.
