They tried to make a match out of it, but 131 against such a reputed Delhi batting line-up was never going to be enough. The start, though, was promising, as Goa's opening bowlers, Arjun Tendulkar and Lakshay Garg, accounted for both the Delhi openers in quick succession. Anuj Rawat came in and slashed a couple of boundaries through the off-side, but then he managed an under-edge to an off-break delivery from Amit Yadav, and Eknath Kerkar took a superb catch behind the stumps to put Delhi under a bit of bother.

Yash Dhull was motoring along seamlessly at the other end, and he went on to have a stable batting partner in skipper Nitish Rana. The duo saw off some tight bowling by the Goa spin bowlers, occasionally carving or improvising their way to find the boundary every now and then. The required rate did climb close to 8 at one point, but then, three boundaries from him in an over from Dinesh Lad eased things out for his side. Yash Dhull missed out on a well-deserved half-century trying to play the cut to a straightish delivery and saw his middle-stump being flattened. The stage was set for the flamboyant Ayush Badoni to come in and finish the job in grand fashion. He played the lap scoop off the first ball he faced, found the boundary, and from then on, there was no stopping Delhi at all. With 5 to get, Badoni lofted Garg over the long-on boundary to finish with a brisk 8-ball 20 and seal the game for his side.
