That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this ILT20 final between the Gulf Giants and the Desert Vipers! This is Soumarya signing off on behalf of Srivathsa. See you soon!
Carlos Brathwaite | Player of the Match: Chuffed to be honest. Thanks to the staff for looking after me. Really proud of the team and thanks to the management for the opportunity. I try to add my bowling as another string to my bow. Happy that it all worked out. Qais was calm and that made it easier for me to effect the run-out. It is a fantastic tournament. Erasmus the Associate player of the year did not play all the games, so many international players sitting out shows the quality of the competition.
Qais Ahmad: I am so happy that we have won the finals. Pleased with the way I bowled tonight. The coach and captain trusted in me and my abilities and encouraged me to give my best.
Chris Jordan: He is definitely a guy for the big occasions like this, he has done it in the past. He got on a roll tonight and capped it off with his dance [on Brathwaite].
Shimron Hetmyer: It's a great feeling. Nice to come up with a win. He is a champion with the ball and he is leading the pack off the field as well [on Carlos Brathwaite].
The Gulf Giants players are being interviewed as they get ready for the post-match presentation. We will bring you all of them.
Gulf Giants 149/3 in 18.4 overs Chris Lynn 72(50) | Wanindu Hasaranga 1/28 Gerhard Erasmus 30(33) | Luke Wood 1/31
The Gulf Giants are the CHAMPIONS of the inaugural ILT20 and they've done it in some style! They bowled brilliantly in the first half and set it up for an easy chase and they got there in the end with 8 balls to spare. They started off the chase on a good note as skipper James Vince was quick to get off the blocs but the Vipers came back strongly as they removed Vince and de Grandhomme in the powerplay itself.
However Chris Lynn held his nerve and anchored the chase really well. He got excellent support from Gerhard Erasmus , the Namibian star and the duo put up a really good partnership of 63 to set the foundation for the chase. There was a brief hiccup in the middle after Erasmus was out but Shimron Hetmyer came in and played a dramatic cameo to seal the deal for the Giants. He smashed a whirlwind 25 of just 13 balls and stayed there till the end with Chris Lynn who remained unbeaten on 72.
The Vipers tried to fight hard for the major part of the game but in the end they simply didn't have enough runs on the board. They did get two early wickets but failed to get wickets in the middle overs when the partnership between Lynn and Erasmus took the game away from them. They missed a trick maybe in not giving a bowl to Rohan Mustafa but it's all done now and in the past.
What an unbelievable tournament we've had and the Gulf Giants are the deserving champions of it in the end. Spare of thoughts for the Desert Vipers who did really well throughout the tournament but fell short of the winning line today. They can still walk away proudly with their effort and come back strongly for the next edition of the competition.
Gulf Giants win by 7 wickets and they're the inaugural champions of the DP WORLD ILT20
