What a battle we just witnessed. We've been treated to some edge-of-the-seat thrillers in SA20 and this one adds to the list. It was topsy-turvy in the last five overs but Breetzke kept his cool and smashed a humongous six to keep his team alive in the tournament. There is a double header tomorrow and we will bring you the LIVE coverage at 5:30 PM, until then, this is Pragadeesh and Divyansh saying goodbye and goodnight
Quinton de Kock (Man of the Match)- I thought it was important to score runs. They bowled well upfront. There is good bounce on the wicket and they bowled well to put us under a lot of pressure. It's good to be back up front and that's where I batted over the years. Me and KG had good battles and it's just another battle. Surely we are gonna have many battles going forward. The win was very important but still there is a lot of hard work to be done. We need to rest up and get ready for tomorrow. I played a couple of times here, sometimes the team batting first wins and it's also the other way around too. We have to trust our instincts and let see what happens tomorrow
Quinton de Kock was adjudged as the Man of the Match for smashing 63 runs off 41 deliveries
Rashid Khan (MI Cape Town captain): I think so. It was a competitive total. The way we bowled in the last 10 overs was good. We need to win the rest of the two games. Every game is knockout for us. We want to win both games to be in the top four. We wanted to stick to the basics and we need to think about the small areas. This is a kind of surface where you can get 190 but later on, it gets hard for batting due to the extra bounce. We were 15-20 runs short
Match Summary-
Durban Super Giants win by 5 wickets.
Quinton de Kock 63 (41) | Dwaine Pretorius 2/38 (4.0) Rassie van der Dussen 43 (32) | Kagiso Rabada 3/22 (4.0)
Remeber the name, Matthew Breetzke, he has got his team over the line and the Giants are alive in this competition. We went down to the wire and Breetzke sealed off the win with just one ball to spare.
Quinton de Kock played a captain's innings up front as he scored a brilliant half century to put his team in a commanding position. After they lost McDermott early on, him and Breetzke got the important partnership. They were above the run rate because of that partnership.
Tim David got de Kock's wicket and MI were back in the game. There were a lot of twist after that, as Keemo Paul played a brilliant cameo of 31 runs off just 18 balls. The biggest twist was Odean Smith dropping Paul's catch in the 16th over which went for a boundary.
Rabada tried his best as he got 3 wickets in the death overs, but the damage was already done by then. They needed a just 22 off 4 overs when he came on.
A brilliant chase in the end, and the Giants have won their do or die match. All matches from here on are do or die for them anyways. MI will be gutted with this loss as it was a must win for them as well.
Poor delivery on the leg side from Jansen. Easy pickings and Breetzke has hit it for a six.
19.5 Duan Jansen to Matthew Breetzke, SIX! HUGE HIT TO SEAL THE MATCH! The fams are jumping in joy. Jansen gets the line and length wrong as he bangs it short, thinking that Breetzke would give room again to access the shorter side. But Breetzke stays in his crease and swivel pulls it over fine leg and gets a maximum, much to the delight of the fans
They steal the single, Breetzke back on strike. 3 runs required off 2 balls.
19.4 Duan Jansen to David Willey, full outside off-stump, Willey comes down the track to squeeze this one but didn't get any contact. They steal a bye
4 runs off 3 balls. The Giants are just one hit away.
19.3 Duan Jansen to Matthew Breetzke, gives room but Jansen followed Breetzke with a fuller one. It's been just clipped down to deep mid-wicket for a single
A long discussion between Jansen and Rashid.
A very important run, it bring back Breetzke on strike. 5 required off 4.
19.2 Duan Jansen to David Willey, slow delivery on a good length, Willey defends but the ball moves in. He ekes out an inside edge to the leg-side and they take a single
6 off 5 balls now. Do we have a Super over on our hand here?
19.1 Duan Jansen to David Willey, slow delivery on a slightly fuller length outside off-stump, Willey swings away from the body but didn't get bat on ball
Rabada does it again. He gets another wicket but a boundary in the over means they need 6 from the last over. Who will bowl it?
