Zak Crawley 12 (4b)

An easy victory in the end for England although they would have liked to done it without coming to bat again. It just took four balls for Zak Crawley to score the 12 runs and finish the game off. Credit should go to Ireland considering they dragged the game this late into the day after starting it in a lot of trouble.

The game was, however, done in the first innings as Ireland only managed 172 with Stuart Broad taking a five-wicket haul under helpful conditions. As usual, the English batters came out with a lot of aggression with Ollie Pope registering a double century while Ben Duckett made 182 off just 178 balls. On the whole, England made 524-4 off just 82.4 overs before Ben Stokes decide to declare. Just like the first innings, Ireland's top-order struggled while things were made worse with James McCollum retiring hurt with an ankle injury. The young pair of Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector saw Ireland through on Day 2 but the former got out six short of the fifty-run mark as Jack Leach struck the first blow on Day 3.

On the other hand, Harry Tector did reach the milestone but he was soon dismissed by Josh Tongue. A couple of deliveries later, Joe Root struck as Curtis Campher was sent back with Ireland on the verge of a collapse. Yet, the all-round duo of Mark Adair and Andy McBrine batted positively to ensure that they registered fifties and also went close to getting their names on the honours board. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be as Matthew Potts had Adair caught-behind with a short delivery while the seamer also removed Fionn Hand a few overs later. Ireland eventually took a lead and went to Tea but Stuart Broad bowled a beauty to get rid of Graham Hume to set-up a 11-run target for his side. From there on, it didn't take much time for the all-aggressive English side to complete the formalities!

0.4 Mark Adair to Zak Crawley, FOUR! IT'S ALL OVER! England thrash Ireland by 10 wickets, but take no credit away from Ireland for that fight they put up in the second innings. Crawley walks across the line and smacks it past the diving mid-on fielder to seal the game.

Session 3, Day 3!

Hello and welcome back to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the third and final session on Day 3 here at Lord's. Right then. Who would've thought after that first innings drubbing, Ireland would get past England lead in the second innings. Some remarkable rear guard action put on by Mark Adair who went on to score his career best 88 and Andy McBrine still out there fighting out.

Ireland are only just 4 runs ahead but this is a mighty effort from the visitors who have frustrated England a little bit. The test match will be over at some stage of this last session but Ireland can bow out with head held high. What an admirable comeback from Ireland as they stretch this game to the final session on Day 3. The visitors re-started after Lunch at 215-6 with the duo of Mark Adair and Andy McBrine starting off against Stuart Broad and Jack Leach. The Irish pair was particularly aggressive against Leach as they slog-swept multiple boundaries while Broad wasn't as threatening too. This forced Stokes to bring on Potts from the end Broad was bowling from even though there wasn't much help for the bowlers.

Potts bowled testing line and lengths while he also kept Adair on his toes with short deliveries. His efforts' finally paid off as Adair's attempt to play an upper-cut only resulted in an outside-edge to Jonny Bairstow with the all-rounder falling 12 short of what would have been a maiden Test century. Fionn Hand came in and played defensively for a while but a rare try to play a cover drive only produced an outside-edge to Zak Crawley as Josh Tongue brought up a five-wicket haul on his debut. Thereafter, the duo of Graham Hume and McBrine saw out the session with gritty defense while the former also brought out some lovely cover drives.

England will be frustrated but they will want to get this final wicket with James McCollum unable to bat. On the other hand, Hume will be determined to hang on at least till McBrine gets to a century. Stay tuned and join myself, Karthik Raj and my co-commentator, Pradeep for the final session too!
