Right then. After New Zealand, England have confirmed their spot in the semi-finals with this win. They are the top two sides in the first group and will now have to wait for tomorrow's games to see who they have to play in the semi-finals. India, South Africa, and Pakistan are all in action tomorrow but only two of them go through to the semi-finals. Who will it be? Well, time will tell. For now, that's all the time we have. Jos Buttler (England captain): Not a great watcher. I didn't enjoy that very much. We knew we had to find a way to win the game and we did just that. (Ben Stokes) It's the situations he is made for. As long as he's out there, there's a sense of calm. He can play a lot of roles and offers a lot in different facets of the game. He's a proper competitor. Getting to this stage of the competition, hopefully, we will see him grow. Having lost the toss, we knew the wicket would slow up as the game goes on. Those couple of overs from Rashid helped us pull things back. He (Rashid) is someone we always turn to. Pleased with his performance. A lot of people are always looking at the end column. He has been unlucky on a few occasions but is still bowling well. On surfaces like this, he's a tough bowler to face. Sam (Curran) keeps growing and growing too. Having such a good run in the team has made him a tough competitor. He knows what he is doing and backs himself in every situation. He wants to be there in the tough moments. (Alex Hales) He played beautifully again tonight. The one over where he took the game away from Sri Lanka was great as well. Would have been great if one of us stayed there till the end. Excited [for the semis]. We wanted to find a way today and get to the semi-finals. Now we look forward to playing one of the best teams in the world.

Dasun Shanaka (Sri Lanka captain): Amazing fight by the boys, we could've done better with the bat.I think the wicket played it's part, England batters struggled but the first 10 overs is where the game went away. We gave a good fight in the last two overs but credit to England openers to take the away inside the powerplay. We played good cricket in patches, dealt with few injuries but that cost us throughout, in patches we batted well but when we head back, we need to work on a few things. Hasranga has been outstanding, even Maheesh Theekshana, Lahiru Kumara and Kasun bowled well today but still there are areas to be improved. To be honest power hitting is a key area, when we play the next T20 World Cup we need to bring in new power hitting talent but the catching has been good yeah. I must thank the colorful spectators for supporting us wherever we go.

Adil Rashid has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: It was a close game, they bowled well, happens in T20 cricket, have to bowl well but Stokesy at the other end was just good for us. Bowl well, create pressure, bowl dot balls to create pressure and that's how the game goes in T20 cricket. For myself it was nice to bowl some dot balls, we bowled exceptionally well, seamers there, Woakes, Stokes, Curran as well. In Australia you may not get the assistance that you look for but it's good to do well on such surfaces. I want to give my 100% whenever I step in. It might be fresh pitch in Adelaide, will look on the day and assess. Where ever we go, we get the support that we want.

"Good times never felt so good. So good! So good! So good!" All smiles and cheers for England now but it was testing times for a little period in that game but this victory will certainly taste sweet as they seal their spot in the semi-finals, knocking out their bitterest rivals from the tournament in their own backyard.

It wasn't straightforward for England but they've managed to hold their nerve and get over the line eventually. It was a stern test of their mettle in this game, first with the ball and then with the bat. After Pathum Nissanka's half-century helped Sri Lanka to put on some sort of a total, the bowlers did exceptionally to make a contest of this one.

It didn't seem like that for most of the game with England blazing their way through 70 in the Powerplay. At that point, it seemed like they would finish it off with some overs to spare. However, the slower pitch assisted the Sri Lankan bowlers enough in the second half of that innings as they kept chipping away with wickets.

From 75-0, England stumbled to 115-5 in the 15th over and that sure did get some nerves jangling. However, they had the perfect man in that situation to get them over the line. None other than Ben Stokes shouldered the responsibility of doing just that, in what was a complete outing for England in all departments.

However, the injury to Dawid Malan will be a cause for concern and something to keep an eye on. As for Sri Lanka, they fought admirably but they bow out of the tournament on a disappointing note. Their death overs where they only scored 25 runs might have proved to be the difference in the end. We'll see what the captains have to say about this contest. Stick around!

England hold their nerve to register a 4-wicket win and confirm their progression to the semi-finals. And it's official. The defending champions and hosts, Australia have been knocked out of the tournament!

19.4 Lahiru Kumara to Chris Woakes, FOUR! RELIEF FOR ENGLAND! England are through to the semi-finals and Australia crash out of the World Cup. Short on the wide of off-stump, Woakes creams it through the backward point, races away for the boundary.

2 needed off 3. The saving grace for Sri Lanka is that it's Woakes is on strike. Deep point, third man, fine leg and deep square leg are the four fielders outside the circle.

19.3 Lahiru Kumara to Chris Woakes, DOT BALL! Short delivery on the fifth stump, Woakes was a touch too early into the swipe shot and misses, they decide against stealing a bye as well. Can Kumara land another dot ball?

More relief than joy amongst the England fans and the dressing room. Hasaranga seems to have pulled a muscle, so he is hobbling off the field. Sums up Sri Lanka's wretched luck with injuries in this tournament, doesn't it?

19.1 Lahiru Kumara to Ben Stokes, pace off, short on the wide of off-stump, Stokes stretches and bunted it wide of short extra-cover, they hustle back for the brace as the fielder fumbles at the deep.

That's the perfect result for England, you'd think. Stokes takes the single and remains on strike with England needing 5 runs off the final over. Dawid Malan is padded up in the dug out, ready to come in next, if required.
