She simply outdid her own brilliance with each passing stroke. It was a treat and a half to watch Smriti Mandhana in full flow if you're an Indian fan and a lover of pure batting in general. England will know that they just didn't turn up today but this is a young side at their disposal and they surely have the wherewithal to put this behind them as the series now moves to Bristol for the decider.

Smriti Mandhana is the Player of the Match. Here is what she has to say: I think after the last match all wanted to come back stronger. (Her innings) I was pushing myself not to play a rash shot and get my team through. I'm glad I could do that to get my team over the line. (Secret to her run-scoring form in England?) It's good weather to bat and there are good wickets as well. Before the CWG, I said that I found the session where I got my touch back. Once that is back, I'm comfortable with myself and my shots. I know I can get my team off to a good start to set the game up in the Powerplay. It's great to do it, regardless of the team you're playing for but it's always special in an India shirt. (Partnership with Shafali) Depends on the game, we decide who will attack. She's at the right age, knowing when to attack and play out. She didn't have that in her game two years back but she's learning it over time. When to attack, when to play out, which is good to see. We are different types of players but enjoy taking the game to the opposition. We don't really have too many conversations about who will play the aggressor. When it's her day, she does it and when it's mine, I take the responsibility.

Harmanpreet Kaur (India captain): Definitely happy. The way we played today I'm really happy. We were very disappointed after the last game. Before coming to the game we discussed that if we wanted to win we had to show that intent. Really happy today. We do have certain plans for the batters and executing those plans always gives those breakthroughs. Credit to the bowlers. (On the fielding) We are an improving fielding side and we wanted to show character with our fielding also. Radha showed that she's here to give all the efforts. She told that we want that fielding effort and she led the way today. (On seeing the chase through with Mandhana) Whenever we bat together we know that we have that confidence as to how to calculate the innings and take risks. Batting with her is easy.

Amy Jones (England captain): (Target?) Potentially we were a bit underpar. After the start we had, it was brilliant from Kemp and Maia to get us up there. They made it look easy in the middle and it was great to see. We knew we had a total out there which we could go out and try and defend. (Showing intent) Going into every game, that's what Lisa always asks of us. I like the intent there, which was always there, despite the scores. It was a great partnership. She's (Kemp) a great talent. We've seen it throughout the summer. The way she got to her first fifty and play the way she did was great to see. We didn't get that early wicket which made it harder for us. India batted brilliantly. They've got some top players and it's difficult to beat them. Credit to them for that.

A dominant show from start to finish by Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. They couldn't have stormed back in better fashion after the humbling they received in Durham on Saturday. They've walked the talk today and bounced back in brilliant fashion with a much-improved bowling and fielding display that saw them restrict England to 142 having been asked to bowl first.

And then, it was the Smriti Mandhana show. Not for no reason is she one of the finest in the world today and she put on an exhibition of the highest quality. The Indian faithful in the stands got their money's worth and you simply had to see it to watch in awe and admiration of a pure batting talent.

Shafali Verma was in a menacing mood herself and the opening duo raced off the blocks to rack up a 50-run stand inside the Powerplay. It took a stunning return catch from Sophie Ecclestone to send Shafali back before Dayalan Hemalatha was castled by a ripper of a Freya Davies delivery. But with Mandhana in cruise control, there was only one result possible.

Harmanpreet Kaur latched onto anything loose and picked up from where she left off at a venue she couldn't possibly take out of her mind. Dew set in to make matters worse for England and a couple of dropped chances summed up a tough outing on the park.

For some reason, Ecclestone wasn't bowled enough when wickets were the need of the hour. That said, even that may not have made much of a difference with Mandhana bossing the chase and fittingly sealing it with a couple of eye-pleasing boundaries in the company of her skipper. Stick around to hear from the captains and the Player of the Match...

And in poetic fashion, it's Mandhana who puts the final stamp on this contest. As dominant a display as we've seen from the Women In Blue and they've made a statement and then some today. India win by 8 wickets with 20 deliveries to spare!
