Switzerland 111/2 in 6.4 overs Idrees Haque 68*(27) | Conner Haddow 1/22 Hassan Ahmed 16(6) | Matthew Siddall 1/8
History has been created by the Swiss national cricket team here at the Cartama Oval as they've pulled off the greatest upset perhaps in the three year history of the European Cricket network. They need 110 runs to win and they've done it easily in the end with about 4 overs and 8 wickets to spare. This has been a batting effort of the highest calibre from them.
It was an Idrees Haque special as he took the attack to the opposition for the second straight time after doing it earlier yesterday against Malta. He took on the seamers and hit them to all parts of the ground and played a magnificent knock of 68 not out. He was ably assisted by Hassan Ahmed who hung around for a while and scored 16 runs. Post that he was helped by Stanikzai who scored a quick fire 15 to complete the formalities for them.
The English bowlers looked flabbergasted as they couldn't really pick up wickets early and had been taken to the cleaners. Haddow and Siddall got a wicket each but those were consolation wickets and they came after the game had slipped away from their hands. There will be some soul searching in that English XI camp as they look to find out what struck them in this game against the minnows Switzerland who have pulled off the geatest shock of ECS history.
6.4 Matthew Siddall to Roshanth Karunamoorthy, AND THAT IS VICTORY TO THE SWISS! Short on leg-and-middle. Muscled to long-on off the back foot for a single. That will take Switzerland to the Final of Group E!
Roshan Karunamoorthy, RHB, comes to the crease.
6.3 Matthew Siddall to Malyar Stanikzai, OUT! Stanikzai goes. It was flighted wide and Stanikzai came down the track to hit it over long off for the glory shot to clinch the game. He didn't get hold of it though and Haddows ran back to complete and unbelievable catch.
