DENMARK BEAT FINLAND BY 26 RUNS. Saran Aslam 46 | Eshan Karimi (4/17) Anique Uddin 36 | Parveen Kumar (3/12)
Denmark edged Finland out in a closely contested encounter here at the Cartama Oval in Cartama, Spain. Finland tried their best to come close to the total that Denmark set them, but eventually fell short, being bowled out in less than nine overs. The Danish batsmen did reasonably well, but their bowlers outperformed them completely.
Finland had very little to show for their efforts, and this will hurt them tremendously. While Danish captain Taranjit Bharaj goes home a happy man, Finland's skipper Nathan Collins will have a lot of questions to answer. Finland's Peter Gallagher and Amjad Sher scored twenties, but they were not enough by any means. This game proved that spin bowling is not dead, and in fact, can hold the key to any successful defence in the middle overs.
So this is us- Mohul and Rajarshi- signing off from this match. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did bringing it to you. Until next time, ciao!
8.5 Eshan Karimi to Peter Gallagher, OUT, bowled! Fires this one right into the blockhole, Gallagher was least expecting something like that, he tries to get his bat down to it, doesn't make contact and Karimi wraps up the match! The Danes prevail by a comfortable margin of 26 runs!
Peter Gallagher b Eshan Karimi 28 (13 balls)
8.4 Eshan Karimi to Mohammad Asaduzzaman, cut away towards point, and Gallagher is back on strike!
Mohammad Asaduzzaman, RHB, is the last man to the crease for Finland.
8.3 Eshan Karimi to Raaz Mohammad, OUT, bowled! Raaz tries to repeat the stroke from the previous delivery, only this time, the ball was pitched a lot fuller and straighter, rushes through his attempted sweep and crashes onto the off-stump!
Raaz Mohammad b Eshan Karimi 4 (2 balls)
8.2 Eshan Karimi to Raaz Mohammad, FOUR, Mohammad sweeps across the line flamboyantly to this delivery well outside off, finds the gap at deep mid-wicket, nice way to get off the blocks!
Raaz Mohammad, RHB, is the new batter.
8.1 Eshan Karimi to Parveen Kumar, OUT, Parveen Kumar's short trying to go for an improbable second! Has a swing at this full ball, gets an inside edge towards deep fine, the fielder at short fine, Sawmy, chases, picks up the ball, fires it in, all in one motion, and ends up hitting the stumps at the striker's end as Parveen was barely halfway there, trying to complete a second run!
Parveen Kumar run out (Raizul Sawmy) 2 (3 balls)
The last couple of overs coming up. Will Finland be able to snatch an unlikely victory from the Danes? 33 runs is not a big ask in two overs. The men in red will try their best to prevent that from happening!

7.6 Adam Leigh to Parveen Kumar, hammers this full delivery on off-stump straight to the man at cover, who refrains from throwing and allows the single
7.5 Adam Leigh to Parveen Kumar, shuffles away and tries to get bat on this one well outside off, doesn't make contact
Parveen Kumar, RHB, walks out at number nine for Finland.
Can he take them closer to the total?
7.4 Adam Leigh to Mahesh Tambe, OUT, bowled! He was going to go for the slog having seen a full length delivery, but he did so without keeping an eye on it, the ball was rapid, and the off-stump was almost ripped out of the ground!
Mahesh Tambe b Adam Leigh 15 (6 balls)
7.3 Adam Leigh to Peter Gallagher, just short of the fine-leg fielder? No, in fact, Gallagher had guided this full ball on leg stump straight to the palms of the man at short fine! They get a single as the fielder there spills it
7.2 Adam Leigh to Mahesh Tambe, fuller on off-stump this time, and Tambe taps this towards cover for a run
7.1 Adam Leigh to Mahesh Tambe, SIX, more pace on the ball from Leigh but the line is down towards leg, Tambe swats this one high and clears the ropes at long-leg!
There is very little going the way of Finland. Denmark are surely on top. Spin, as always, has held the key for the Danes.
Adam Leigh (1/9) returns to the attack.
