We have witnessed a thriller and this has been a thriller of a kind that only European cricket can provide. In the end, Gamblers CC have emerged victorious and the have handed Oeiras their first loss of the competition.

143 was always going to be a tricky score to chase down, neither too low and nor very high and that is where the Oeiras openers got stuck a bit in their approach and did not go for it all guns blazing like they normally do. They scored 26 off the three powerplay overs and one felt that they were setting up a base in this run chase.

Can you do that in such a short format where you have only 10 overs to play with? Debatable but the openers, Badenhorst and Greenshields indeed shifted gears and smashed 45 runs off the next 15 deliveries and it looked like they were timing the chase perfectly.

But then, both of them got out within a space of 6 deliveries and with the third wicket falling down immediately the target looked far for Oerias.

This is when Lakshan Weerakoon entered and turned the match on its head. He smoked the ball to all parts and played an absolute blinder, a 13-ball 42. Unfortunately, he too got out at the wrong time, in the last over, and Oeiras eventually fell short.

A whole lot of credit needs to be given to the bowlers from Gamblers CC who kept things tight and took wickets when it mattered the most. Karanbir Singh was the pick of them taking 2 scalps and giving away just 15 runs off his 2 overs.

Karanbir Singh had a field day out as he was the man responsible for taking Gamblers CC to the score of 142 in the first innings with an invaluable 59* when the innings kept swinging just like it did in the second half.
