That brings to a close our coverage of this contest but we have two more big games coming up. The Qualifier will commence in over an hour from now so do stay tuned and catch up with all the action from that game to find out who among Geneva and Zurich Nomads will join Olten in the summit clash, also to be played later in the day. Until next time, this is the duo of Karthik Raj and Sooryanarayanan Sesha taking your leave. Thank you so much for tuning in as we hope you enjoyed our coverage. Have a great weekend - take care and buh-bye!
Match Summary: Geneva beat Pakhtoon Zalmi by 71 runs.
You can't be faulted for thinking that this was going to end only one way during the innings break. It was truly going to take a Houdini act of epic proportions for Pakhtoon Zalmi to get even close to their target of 198, never mind chase it down altogether. They fought hard but as it turns out, they're way short and hence, have to bid adieu to the competition.
A lot was riding on one man's shoulders - Arif Sangar. The writing was on the wall the moment he perished off the very first ball however, despite skipper Izhar Hussain not going down without a fight and Abdullah Hamdard also looking to up the ante himself. Things slowed down after the powerplay though and that sent the asking rate to a gargantuan magnitude, leaving Zalmi with a very very miniscule ray of hope to cling onto at best.
It was always going to be the case with Jamil Jabarkhil and Keramatullah Tarakhel combining to concede just 20 runs off their four overs while bagging a couple of wickets. So much so that they rendered a couple of forgettable spells from Zahidullah Abdullrahimzi and Bilal Muhammad moot. The umpiring certainly garnered attention with a number of regular contentious decisions taken on the field.
But either way, there was only one team that turned up and it was Geneva, who have now booked a spot in the Qualifier where the Zurich Nomads await them. As for Zalmi, they have to pack their bags but will take plenty of lessons from their run this season.

100 runs required off 2 overs! That's...some equation. But you've got to give it to the Zalmi batters who have come out swinging hard. Not that they had a choice of course but they really can't blame themselves much here.
