Well, a game abandoned without the toss taking place. Just not what any of us wanted and most certainly not the few members in the stands who can be seen sporting a sullen look. Alas, we can't control the weather now, can we? What this means is that the two teams split points and retain their positions at 1 and 4 on the points table. The Manipal Tigers finally get off the mark but not in the manner they would have liked. They need to buck up soon enough and get a win under their belt at the earliest.

9 PM local time: The inevitable has happened. Torrential rain has forced the match officials to abandon this game. So not what we wanted to hear but alas, they were left with no choice!

8:24 PM local time: It's still raining at the Kotla and there are no signs of the covers coming off for the moment. In fact, the covers are soaked with considerable amount of water. A potentially long evening ahead of us then but do stick around for further updates!

Good evening and a warm welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of Match 5 of the Legends League Cricket 2022. It's a battle between top and bottom as Gujarat Giants face the Manipal Tigers at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Having won both their encounters thus far, the Giants are on a roll and have made an early statement in the competition. That they've managed to do so without a substantial contribution from skipper Virender Sehwag speaks volumes of the kind of form they've been in.

Kevin O'Brien has been in blistering form, having started the tournament with a stunning hundred. With Parthiv Patel also looking in good nick, the Giants look well-placed with the likes of Sehwag and Thisara Perera yet to come into their own. With the ball, Perera and Rayad Emrit have been consistent and economical, while KP Appanna is more than a handful with his left-arm spin.

The Tigers, meanwhile, are in search of an upswing having lost both their matches thus far. Running into a team as solid as the Giants is the last thing they'd have wanted but a strong showing today could just be the catalyst their team is after.

Led by Harbhajan Singh, their bowling unit has enough pedigree in the form of Muttiah Muralitharan, Chris Mpofu and the skipper himself. While they've all hit the ground running already, it's their batting that has been worrisome with only Mohammad Kaif showing some kind of form. Pardeep Sahu's strike-rate suggests that he could be more than a handful and the time has come for the support cast to stand up to be counted.

The Giants clearly enter this game as favorites but they will do well to ensure complacency doesn't set in.
