Alright then friends, the action now moves on to the third week in the BBL as a double-header Boxing Day comes our way in three days' time! The Sixers will host the Stars at the SCG first and then, the Scorchers will take on the Renegades again at the Perth Stadium. So, do join us for both those, positively! As for now, this is the pair of Bala and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Hobart Hurricanes win by 6 wickets with an over to spare!
Matthew Wade has been adjudged the Player of the Match.
Matthew Wade 82 (50) | Nathan Ellis - 2/32 (4) Jonathan Wells 40* (24) | Tom Stewart Rogers - 2/32 (4)
At the start of the innings, the two left-handed opening batters for the Hobart Hurricanes tried to be too cute with one ramp shot after another and Caleb Jewell paid the price for that as Tom Stewart Rogers trapped him right in front!
After that, Macalister Wright, who replaced Ben McDermott tonight, joined Matthew Wade to stitch together a substantial partnership if possible. As it turned out, from being 2/1 in 0.5 overs, the Hurricanes were 142/2 in 12.4!
Both Wade and Wright smashed their way to respective half-centuries and did not spare any kind of bowling as the stand rolled along! Bowlers of the quality of Kane Richardson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Adam Zampa were all taken for plenty by the pair. The likes of Rogers and Will Sutherland suffered a similar fate.
They decided to take the Power Surge early to maximize on the scoring rate and boy didn't they do just that! In both those overs, as many as 39 runs were scored without the fall of a wicket!
Wright scored a 36-ball 63 with 5 fours and 5 sixes, while Wade finished with 82 runs at a strike rate of 164.00. The wicketkeeper-batter, who missed the last game due to a slight back complaint, struck 4 glittering fours and 3 massive sixes!
The Renegades sort of made a mini comeback with rather quick wickets of Wade and Sam Hain towards the back-end. Then came the 19th over which saw only one run scored off three balls with Tim David looking slightly shaky against Sutherland.
But, the big hitter could not be tied down for too long! He smashed a flat six over deep mid-wicket to bring it down to 2 runs required off 8 balls! Corey Anderson then completed the work with 6 balls left in the innings.
With this win on a really good batting strip, the Hurricanes register their first win of the tournament! As for the Renegades, they suffer their third loss of the season and have only 1 point to show for till now.

18.6 Will Sutherland to Corey Anderson, FOUR! Seals the win with a boundary! Right in the slot from Sutherland. Anderson smacks it straight back over the bowler's head. No chance for the fielder at mid-on
Scores are level.
18.5 Will Sutherland to Tim David, slower ball full on the stumps. Drives it to long-on for one
Tim David has just done what Tim David is there to do!
18.4 Will Sutherland to Tim David, SIX! That should seal it! Slower ball short of a length. He powers it over the square leg boundary. He can smash the ball, no doubt
18.4 Will Sutherland to Tim David, attempts the wide yorker and gets it slightly wrong. Just past the tramline
Back-to-back dot deliveries!
18.3 Will Sutherland to Tim David, full and straight on the off-stump. Squeezes it out to cover
The mandatory concussion check will also take place.
18.2 Will Sutherland to Tim David, smashed onto the helmet! Sharp bumper from Sutherland. David is late on the pull and gets hit on the lid. The ball has carried on to backward point and the Renegades ask for a review.
Flat line on the Snicko. No bat involved and Tim David will stay.
18.1 Will Sutherland to Tim David, FOUR! Finds the boundary! That will take the pressure off. Short of a length angling in, David moves across and pulls it away to deep square leg
Corey Anderson, LHB, is at the non-striker's end.
Will Sutherland [3.0-0-31-0] comes back into the attack.
So, another set batter in Hain goes! Suddenly, the Renegades feel that there is still some life left in this match for them. If this upcoming over goes for no more than 5 runs, the last one can get really interesting!

17.6 Kane Richardson to Sam Hain, OUT! A wicket to round off an incredible over from Richardson! Moves across the stumps and swings across the line. Goes straight up off the leading edge. It's a steepler but Rogers does well to keep his cool
Sam Hain c Tom Stewart Rogers b Kane Richardson 14 (16b, 1x4, 0x6)
A bit of a hack after a couple of dots! Only one run.
17.5 Kane Richardson to Tim David, moves across the stumps and has a mighty whack. Comes off the inside edge to deep mid-wicket
17.4 Kane Richardson to Tim David, good length outside off. Punches it on the up to cover point
