So, that will be all from the Ranchi-leg of the Legends League Cricket, 2023! We shift our focus to Dehradun now from tomorrow. Do join us for that in the evening for another pulsating game lined up, just like this one. For now, this is the pair of Pradeep and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Suresh Raina (Urbanrisers Hyderabad): Gurkeerat Singh Mann played really well, especially against spin and while rotating strike. Kevin Pietersen has a tremendous reach and he showed that to great effect. But I thought that Peter Trego bowled impressively to hold his nerve and get the job done. I guess when you have dinner at MS Dhoni's home, it always helps the next day! Dew is a thing but I guess as experienced players, it is important to bowl in dewy conditions as well and win it, there can be no excuses.
Gautam Gambhir (India Capitals captain): Hyderabad batted so well today, we never thought they would go to 190 but credit to Gurkeerat, we were always in the game but these things happen in T20 cricket. They were 20 runs more, at one stage we thought we could restrict them to 160 but they ended up getting 189 and this is what T20 cricket is all about. Pietersen is a class player, the way he's hitting and hopefully he continues the same way. Kevin coming is such a boost for us, if we can stitch partnerships at the start is good, once you have the foundation the guys coming later can express themselves.
Gurkeerat Singh Mann is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: Specific role given to me by the management and the captain, they wanted me to stay till the end and assess the conditions, this is our first afternoon game, it was stopping a bit at the start but it started to come on nicely later on. I think, earlier after seeing the wicket, the runs were alright, but we didn't anticipate the dew to come on early, but overall we won, it's good. Definitely, I can bowl too and the captain knows.
Urbanrisers Hyderabad win by 3 runs!
Gurkeerat Singh Mann 89 (54) | Chris Mpofu - 2/34 (4) Kevin Pietersen 77 (48) | Isuru Udana - 2/28 (4)
This was an innings that kept swinging from one side to another. But in the end, it was the bowling team that held its nerve to get the job done!
Urbanrisers Hyderabad could not have asked for a better start to the innings when 4 wickets fell inside the power play. India Capitals were not even on 50 runs at that stage.
However, two partnerships followed after that. One, between Kevin Pietersen and Ricardo Powell and the other between Pietersen again and Ashley Nurse. Both, resurrected the innings and brought things right back on track for the Capitals!
Pietersen went on to score a 48-ball 77 and Nurse finished not out on 41 off 25 deliveries, but the latter could not quite hit a boundary off the final ball of the innings to win it for his team!
Suresh Raina's side will be wondering how things got away through the middle phase of the innings but somehow, they were able to hold things together and pick up a big victory! As for Gautam Gambhir's India Capitals, this is a second straight loss to begin this year's tournament.

19.6 Peter Trego to Ashley Nurse, TREGO HOLDS ON TO HIS NERVE! What a sensational final over Peter Trego has bowled, Nurse has been kept quiet throughout the over, not one boundary was conceded and Capitals have a heart break here, came so close but yet so far. Too full outside the off-stump, Nurse can't get underneath that and drilled it to long-off, all they get is just a single.
Oh! How do you miss from there! The keeper could not have got into a better position! Anyway, 4 runs to win now from 1 ball!
19.5 Peter Trego to Rusty Theron, OH MY WORD! Amit misses to hit the stumps, Nurse would've been gone for all money. Yorker length outside the off-stump, Theron misses and Nurse looks to hare across. Keeper had all the three stumps and time to hit, but he misses.
Alright, 6 runs to get now off 2 balls!
19.4 Peter Trego to Ashley Nurse, full toss into the batter, Nurse clubbed it to deep mid-wicket, fielder gets around and keeps them for just one. Nurse is asking the umpire for a no-ball!
The runs required are 7, the balls left are 3.
19.3 Peter Trego to Ashley Nurse, full and wide of off-stump, Nurse down on one knee and looks to smoke it away, but drilled it straight down the ground for only a couple.
India Capitals need 9 runs to win off 4 balls.
19.2 Peter Trego to Rusty Theron, good change of pace, back of a length on the off-stump. Theron swipes it to deep square-leg for just one.
19.1 Peter Trego to Ashley Nurse, too full outside the off-stump, Nurse sits on one knee to whack it, but mistimes it down to long-off for one.
Peter Trego [3.0-0-25-1] comes back into the attack.
Last over coming up now. 11 runs to get off 6 balls in modern-day terms is not much of a problem, even for retired legends! Pressure will be on the bowler here to get his length right.

Chris Mpofu

18.6 Chris Mpofu to Ashley Nurse, LOUD SHOUTS FOR LBW, NOT GIVEN! Clearly sliding down leg. Back of a length on the leg-stump, Nurse misses the flick across the line and misses, raps on the pad, they pick up a leg-bye. But, Raina wants to review this.
Three stumps visible and ball tracking confirms that it was sliding down leg long way, might not have hit the second set of stumps too!
18.5 Chris Mpofu to Ashley Nurse, short into the batter, Nurse gets rushed on the backfoot and punched it down to long-on and they hare back for the brace. Brilliant running that from Nurse!
