Commentary

That will be all for tonight's Under 19 cricket World Cup coverage. India will now be facing England on Saturday in the final while Australia will fight for 3rd place against Afghanistan. Yash Dhull, India captain: The boys are playing incredible cricket. We did well to come back from the early blows in the first innings. Rasheed and I got a good amount of runs and he is always mentally strong and prepared, something I noticed when we were together in the bubble.

Cooper Connolly, Australia captain: We thought we were in a good position before the last ten overs but India scored 100 odd in that phase and 290 on these wickets is a bit too many. We have a few positives, especially the way we played spin throughout the tournament. It was a great experience here, the bubble was the only issue.

Yash Dhull, Player of the Match: It felt good to score a century. We didn't get a good start, Rasheed and I planned to play till the end and play long, till about the 40th over. The runs would come eventually in the end as we bat deep. Rasheed played very well and he was very well prepared mentally. He has a good chemistry with me and we enjoy batting together.

What a win, what a win for India! They are now through to the finals of the Under 19 World Cup 2022. After a heartbreak against Bangladesh in 2020, India will now go for glory on Saturday, 5th February 2022. The skipper Yash Dhull and his deputy Shaik Rasheed are walking out with jubilant smiles. They have been instrumental for India in this semifinal victory.

Chasing 291 was always going to be a tough task for any side against this star-studded Indian bowling lineup. Australia lost their talisman Teague Wyllie in the second over itself. It was an enormous blow, losing the top scorer early in the match. Connolly and Kellaway consolidated and brought their side back in the game after adding 68 runs for the second wicket.

However, as soon as the spinners were brought into the attack, Australia collapsed. The wickets fell like a pack of cards. The four spinners combined together for seven wickets with each of them bagging at least one scalp. They made a mockery of the Australian middle order as they succumbed to the Indian spin web.

Lachlan Shaw's lower order cameo and the half-century could possibly be the only positive for the Aussies from the second innings. The youngster played with some flair and managed to see off the Indian spinners. Australia were never in the run chase. 290 on these wickets is way too many.

Direct hit and India win! They are into their 8th Under 19 World Cup final with the fourth consecutive appearance!

But Nisbet sends his partner back. A direct hit from Hangargekar from mid-off catches Whitney short of his crease and that is that! India win and are through to the final.
