It has been a near perfect game for India. They have most boxes ticked and now, there is a Virat Kohli hundred to boot! Which means that the match against New Zealand in Dharamsala becomes really important in terms of deciding which team remains unbeaten in the World Cup. As for Bangladesh, they need a lot of thinking to do before they play their next match. For that, we have to wait till Sunday. First up, tomorrow, a big game gets played in Bengaluru with Australia taking on Pakistan. Will Australia carry forward the winning momentum or will Pakistan get back to winning ways after the blip against India? One thing is for sure, it will be a cracker of a contest! This is the pair of Soorya and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Rohit Sharma (India captain): Really pleased with how we went about our work! Our fielding has been quite superb and really happy with how we pulled things back in the middle overs today in the first innings. (On Hardik Pandya's injury) Hardik Pandya has not damaged his ankle much, it is sore but then, with injuries like that, it's about assessing the situation. Let's see how he wakes up tomorrow and we will take it from there. (On Virat Kohli stealing the Player of the Match award from Ravindra Jadeja with a superb batting performance) Ravindra Jadeja did indeed bowl well today and took a great catch but I guess a hundred is a hundred and you cannot take anything away from that, can you? (On the best fielder award that gets given away after every game) We have a special award for the best fielder every game in the dressing room and that does make the one who wins it, feel great! (On the next match against New Zealand) New Zealand will definitely be a big game for us, but again, wherever we play in India, the support is just fantastic and we get buoyed by the presence of such loyal crowds.
Najmul Hossain Shanto (Bangladesh captain): India are always a very good side, really capable of doing big things. (On losing the last three matches to three top teams and which one of them played the best) All the three teams we played were tough, but we could have done better to be honest. I think Tanzid Hasan batted really well and the fast bowlers too bowled well but had Litton Das batted longer and we could have picked up a couple of wickets with the new ball, it could have been a different ball game. Shakib Al Hasan should be back for the next game.
Virat Kohli is the Player of the Match for his superb hundred. Here's what he has to say: Sorry for stealing it from Jaddu but I wanted to make a big contribution. I've had a few fifties in World Cups and I haven't really converted them so I wanted to finish it off this time and hang on till the end. I was telling Shubman even if you dream about a situation like that, you don't go back to sleep. It was a dream to start with a four and a six. I was just looking to hit the gaps, run hard and get the boundaries whenever needed. It's a great atmosphere in the change room. We're loving each other's company, the spirit is there for everyone to see. It's a long tournament and you need that mood in the change room for guys to come out and play like this. And Ash as well, just the two of us from 2011 - it's a pleasure playing at home and we want to make the most of it.
This target did not seem all that difficult for India to begin with and that is how it panned out! But along with that, another pretty interesting thing happened. Going neck and neck with the runs remaining, Virat Kohli got to his 48th ODI hundred by scoring all of those 20-odd runs!
KL Rahul decided not to take a single midway through an over and that decision prompted Kohli to go for the runs without wasting too much time. It was a tremendous effort from the chase master and like many times before, he finished it by staying not out and with 100 runs to his name!
It all began with Rohit Sharma smashing 48 runs in only 40 balls to get the run chase kicked off in style! He also became the highest run scorer of the tournament up to now in the process. Shubman Gill accompanied him through all this and ended up scoring his 10th ODI fifty. Unfortunately, both could not go on to get a bigger score.
Shreyas Iyer missed out on another opportunity to stay not out as he was out caught brilliantly in the deep by Mahmudullah. But Kohli, along with KL Rahul, made sure there were no further hiccups getting to the target.
The pitch was a beauty to bat on and the pace at which India went about the chase showed just how short Bangladesh were off what could be called a par score.
Virat Kohli now also has the most runs in successful run chases in ODIs for India. He also picked up 26000 international runs tonight. And of course, the love affair he has with Pune continued!
With the ball, it was only Mehidy Hasan Miraz who bowled with some success. Hasan Mahmud and Shoriful Islam bowled with a lot of heart too. But that was just about it. They missed their captain Shakib Al Hasan with both bat and ball today and Najmul Hossain Shanto's captaincy got tested big time!
The fielding from Bangladesh was good at times but not at all up to the mark otherwise. Tanzid Hasan and Mahmudullah were really good in this department though. However, India were far superior in the field, just to differentiate.
India now get to 8 points from 4 matches and remain undefeated. Bangladesh have just suffered their 3rd straight defeat here to make matters more complicated for them.
Does it in style does Virat Kohli! Absolute scenes in Pune here! Century number 48 in ODIs now and more importantly, victory number 4 for India in the World Cup on the bounce!
41.3 Nasum Ahmed to Virat Kohli, SIX! Number 48 for the King and he seals it for India in style! This man just knows how to seal a chase and he's done it without breaking a sweat again. Steps out as he gets hold of this full toss with an aerial flick over mid-wicket. Picks the bones out of it and sends it disappearing into the stands as the whole of Pune erupts in admiration for the King. And that's a resounding way to seal a win as well. India go four on the bounce as they defeat Bangladesh by 7 wickets!
41.2 Nasum Ahmed to Virat Kohli, full at the stumps. Kohli flicks it aerially to long on without timing it well. Farms the strike again!
41.1 Nasum Ahmed to Virat Kohli, WELL WELL! Slips it just down the leg-side on a good length. Kohli just gets out of the way and somehow, Kettleborough doesn't signal a wide before letting out a smirk
Nasum Ahmed [9.0-0-54-0] comes back into the attack.
Right, so the single is taken and Kohli keeps strike. Poor from Bangladesh to concede an easy single but all that counts for nothing now. Kohli is three away from three figures, India are two away from victory.

40.6 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, very full outside the off stump. Kohli presents a straight bat to ease it down to long on as he picks up a run to keep strike
40.5 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, length delivery at the stumps. Kohli whips it flat to deep mid-wicket who collects it on the bounce. Kohli doesn't take the run again. He wants this hundred alright!
The crowd is getting in on the act now! They sense three figures for Kohli here!
40.4 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, into the block hole on middle and off stump. Kohli jams it out through mid-wicket as he bolts across before dashing back like Usain Bolt to complete the second! On 96 now...
40.3 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, OHH! Pace off on a length outside the off stump. Kohli looks to drag it with a whip across the line but gets a thick inside edge that rolls past his stumps to short fine leg
40.2 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, BRILLIANT RUNNING! Into the block hole at the stumps. Kohli turns his bat to jam it just in front of square on the leg-side. It barely rolls a few meters as he makes a dash for the other end and rockets back for the second by the time the fielder cuts it off to his left. He's on 94 now...
Was that planned from Hasan or was that the pitch helping out? The 250 comes up for India!
40.2 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, WIDE! OH DEAR! A huge round of boos from the crowd! Slower bouncer at the stumps. Lobs well over Kohli's head and the umpire has to signal a wide
40.1 Hasan Mahmud to Virat Kohli, full in length outside the off stump. Kohli skews it off the inner half of his blade to deep mid-wicket. He wanted to go straighter but he retains strike as they don't run
