What a blinder that was from skipper Shanaka! Leading from the front, he powered the Lankans along and he continues to remain a thorn in the Indian flesh. The hosts will have to work a plan to stop him in the final T20I and with the series tied at one apiece, it's set up fascinatingly for a thriller. We've seen two of them already and we can't wait for the third come Saturday with the caravan moving to Rajkot. Sri Lanka will have an added spring to their step while India will look to correct their rookie errors and bounce back.

No surprises for guessing who the Player of the Match is. It is the Sri Lankan captain, Dasun Shanaka. Here is what he has to say: (Captain's performance) I think so (smiles). We could have done well in the middle overs. The game was set up by the openers and we had to make sure to keep that going in the middle order. (Dew having an effect on the bowlers?) It's not the dew factor. It was the skill of the Indian batters. Suryakumar's batting was outstanding and so was Axar's. It's really good to defend a total against India. We know they are very good while chasing in any conditions. (Aware of his excellent record against Sri Lanka?) Now I am.

Hardik Pandya (India Captain): I think both in the bowling and batting, the powerplay hurt us. We made some basic errors which we should not be at this level. Everyone knows what they've done. It was a cracker of a game and the way Surya, Axar and Mavi got us in the game was heartening to see. The simple things and basics which we can control, we should emphasize on that. You can have a good or bad day but you can't compromise on the basics. It's very difficult because no balls are not a freebie. You can give runs but he (Arshdeep) has bowled a couple of no balls in the past well. He has had a good run of course. Not to blame him or go hard on him but he must go back and make sure he doesn't do it again. Surya had a fantastic run at number 4. Rahul was very accustomed to play at number 3. Anyone coming into the team you want to give him a suitable role he is comfortable in.

Kasun Rajitha: I very much love this ground. I made my debut here and again today...I really love this ground. We knew the ball would swing under lights. (Tension towards the end?) Yeah we went away from our basics a bit but we came back well.

After losing 11 T20Is in a row against the Indian side, Sri Lanka come up trumps against the Men in Blue in an absolute humdinger of a game in Pune. It wasn't the perfect game for any side. Far from it in fact, but from a neutral's perspective, that was one thrilling game of cricket that left everyone at the edge of their seat.

A barrage of no balls and an indisciplined performance with the ball cost India as the Asia Cup champions racked up a mammoth total of 206, courtesy of half-centuries from Shanaka and Mendis. It was always going to be a tough task for India from there on, and it didn't get any easier in the second innings.

Kasun Rajitha ran riot with the new ball alongside Madushanka, leaving India stranded at 34-4 at one stage in the powerplay. That soon become 57-5 at the halfway stage with the hosts tottering to even get to the finish line. That is when Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel flicked a switch.

It was the left-hander who got the ball rolling with SKY joining the party. India stormed back into the contest courtesy of that partnership as the two racked up 91 off 40 deliveries to swing the momentum back in favor of the hosts. However, Madushanka got rid of SKY in the 16th over and that tilted the scales back in Sri Lanka's favor.

The hosts weren't done with their fearless approach just yet though. Shivam Mavi came in to provide a few lusty blows to keep the hopes alive until the very end, before Axar was dismissed with 21 runs required in the final over. It was a spirited effort from the hosts after being put in a challenging situation, which is exactly what their captain wanted.

It'll be interesting to see how he assesses this game in the post-match interviews, so stick around for the presentation. As for as the Player of the Match goes, there were a few players who put their hands up. Axar Patel had a memorable outing but it might be Dasun Shanaka, who takes the accolades and the win with him at the end of the day. Stick around to find out!

19.6 Dasun Shanaka to Shivam Mavi, OUT! SRI LANKA DRAW LEVEL! Fittingly, it's Shanaka who has the final say in proceedings given that it was his knock that vaulted the visitors to a par-plus total. Another rank full toss just outside the off stump though and Mavi swings with gay abandon. Balloons it down the throat of Theekshana pedaling back from mid-off and that brings the curtains down on this contest. Sri Lanka prevail by 16 runs to take it to the decider in Rajkot!

Well played, Axar Patel. Hold your head high, because that was one of the best knocks he's ever likely to play. They're checking this for a waist-high full toss but that's surely alright. Karunaratne makes no mistake in the deep either. Axar has to depart. 18 needed in 3 balls now.

19.3 Dasun Shanaka to Axar Patel, PICKS OUT LONG OFF! Axar's brilliance has come to a screeching halt! But just hang in there - is that too high? Wretched full toss outside the off stump and Axar does what he has to. Powers it high aiming to clear long off and it nearly has enough legs, only for Karunaratne to pouch it and pull off a juggling act as he manages to hold his balance without tripping over. The height is being checked and it's fine. Axar departs and that should be the game!
