Well, India wrapped up the series right here with back to back wins and West Indies came very close this game to level up but then the batting just didn't come together in the end. They were in the game for the patches but then they need to work on putting up partnerships to win game. That's all we had from this encounter from Sportskeeda, do join us for plenty of cricket that's happening around the globe tomorrow. This has been me, Pradeep Somashekar along with my partner Pratyush Rohra as we sign off for the night, stay safe and take care!
Prasidh Krishna has been adjudged Player of the Match for his splendid spell of bowling!
Prasidh: I've been trying to do this for quite sometime, I'm happy it came off today and we ended up on the winning side. Nothing different to be honest, I was focusing on hitting the right areas, may be I didn't do that well in the last game. I think West Indies bowled really well, when I went into bat, it was still seaming around a lot, so, I knew the wicket had something still. I would've laughed if someone had told me earlier in the day that I would've got four wickets today, but yes, I'm happy to do this for the team. Not really, I had seen the wickets, trying to do different things, didn't work out but I wanted to keep it simple tonight and let the ball do the talk. Will try to be as consistent as possible, white ball cricket is fast moving, T20 and this. There is a lot of power game to it, bowl straighter lines and trouble the batters all the time.
Rohit Sharma (India Captain): Obviously winning the series is a good feeling, there were challenges of course when we came into bat. I thought the partnership between KL and Surya, they showed a lot of maturity there, that is what we want, when you lose wickets up front, you need guys to step up and we got to a fighting total in the end. It was important to get to the good score and the bowling had to turn up which it did, I'm quite pleased with that. It's important for the middle order to do well in such situation, it shows their character when they perform. The kind of knock of Surya played today, will give him a lot of confidence, he couldn't just go through with his shots, he had to bide his time and then played a very matured innings today. Also, the way KL batted, really impressed as well, it wasn't easy for him, he's been moved around the batting order a lot but he showed a lot of composure today. I've been asked to do different things, trying out Pant to open was something that we tried today, not a permanent solution but we wanted to try out something unique today. We're going to get Shikhar back in the next game, he's going to get his game time but ultimately, we have to keep trying out different things, we don't mind losing games here and there but we want to keep experimenting. Still a day in between, we're going to go back and see who we can give that game time but again there are guys who's been playing consistently, it's important we need to continue to give them the game time. I was a little surprised with no dew today but not taking anything away from the bowlers, especially Prasidh, it's been sometime I've seen someone bounce out batters like that on India pitches. Prasidh kept relentless pressure on the batters and he did splendidly well today, we wanted to get wickets and he did with ease with tonight. I wanted to keep Prasidh for backend as well, because they had power hitters down the order for some late hitting, so shuffled the bowling around nicely, when you have five bowlers and Hooda being the sixth, it's always nice to have a extra cushion to have!
Nicholas Pooran (West Indies captain): Definitely let it slip away with the bat. We weren't able to string together any partnerships and kept losing wickets at key intervals. We lost the game in the 39th over. It was crucial with Fabian and Akeal getting out in quick succession. The more cricket we play together will hopefully make us better as batters. (On Pollard's fitness) He's a tough guy, he'll be fine I'm sure. (On Odean Smith) He's special as well. He's a big guy who can smash it and bowl at 14kmph. He's a young guy. Experience will be key but the sky is the limit for him. We'll try to come hard again. We did that with our bowling today. Hopefully we can repeat that and do much better with the bat in the final game.
Shardul Thakur: There was a bit of tension around. In day-night games and the dew coming in, the new batters can 'lagao' (hit) a few big strokes and take the game away from you. I think the fast bowlers were bowling really well today. There was something in the pitch today and myself, Prasidh and Siraj managed to extract something from it. One wicket can fall and take the game away from the batting team. That was what Rohit was looking for. It was the plan all along (on bowing short). Even when we batted, the West Indians used the short ball really well. There was more pace in the pitch today, so we exploited that well.
India won the game by 44 runs and the series 2-0! Shamarh Brooks 44(64) | Akeal Hosein 34(52) | Prasidh Krishna 9-3-12-4 | Shardul Thakur 9-1-41-2
Well, well, it was until Odean Smith's dismissal Rohit and co were setting up for some late flourish but Sundar bowled brilliantly, handled the lengths to perfection and see the big man back to the dressing room and from there India were almost done as Prasidh Krishna comes back to seal the game for India.
It was Prasidh Krishna right from the word go, set the tone for India, his impeccable spell meant West Indies were always in trouble. His scalps are Brandon King, Darren Bravo, Nicholas Pooran and then at the end Kemar Roach, an outstanding spell of bowling that read 9-3-12-4!
He was ably supported by Siraj who didn't have a lot of luck on favour but then gets the big wicket of Fabian Allen in the end. Shardul Thakur chipped away with a couple of wickets in the middle overs and then Yuzvendra Chahal scalped one wicket meant India were always in check with the run chase.
West Indies had a sedate start to the inning but then they decided it's time to go after but it wasn't all easy and once Prasidh Krishna was introduced into the attack, it was a different ball game for the batters and survival was the key. Shamarh Brooks showed compassion but then threw his wicket away trying to take on Chahal.
Akeal Hosein along with Brooks put up a good partnership before the latter perished. Hosein and then Odean Smith stitched another partnership which looked threatening but then Thakur bounces him out in the end which gave relief of sorts for Rohit. West Indies have something to ponder going into the dead rubber on Friday as India will look to clean sweep the ODI series!
That's it, Krishna had an extraordinary day and it's only fitting that he comes back to wrap things up for India as they go on to win the game by 44 runs and win the series 2-0 with one game to go!

45.6 Prasidh Krishna to Kemar Roach, STONE-DEAD LBW! GAME, SET AND MATCH FOR INDIA! They seal the three-match series and fittingly, it's Prasidh Krishna who wraps up the proceedings. He was sensational this evening! Good length, pretty straight as Roach shuffles across and ends up playing all over that one. The ball thuds into the pads and he's caught plumb in front. Roach doesn't even bother reviewing. India win 44 runs and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

44.6 Washington Sundar to Odean Smith, MILES IN THE AIR... KOHLI HOLDS ON! Pushed through into the pitch on middle and leg, Smith looks to launch this over mid-wicket but he's lots of height on it but no distance. That one would have some down with some frequent flier mileage but the former Indian captain settles himself calmly before gathering this safely. The dangerous Odean Smith is back in the hut. Excellent stuff from Sundar!
