So that will be all from this contest. The semifinals will be played on Friday as India look to proceed into a second consecutive final and defend their title. Do join us for our coverage of that contest right here on Sportskeeda while keeping yourselves updated with all the other cricketing news and action from around the world. For the moment, this is the duo of Lavil Saldanha and Sooryanarayanan Sesha taking your leave. Thank you so much for joining us - take care and see you around soon. Goodbye for now!
VVS Laxman can be seen having a word with the Indian support staff. Words of inspiration and motivation from him ought to do these young girls a world of confidence alright. The semifinals beckon soon for India as one of South Africa or England await depending on where India finish. They are currently on top of their group but if Australia beat Sri Lanka by a humongous margin tomorrow, they could dislodge India and bag top spot meaning that India would then face South Africa. If not, it's England who await Niki Prasad & Co. in the semifinals.
Niki Prasad (India captain): (On Trisha) We definitely enjoyed her innings. It was very special for her but for us as a team, looking at someone who has been so consistent going out there and scoring that first U19 World Cup century, it's special for all of us. (On Kamalini) I think her getting this innings is going to give her good confidence going into the semifinals. (Not much time for the middle-order?) We've been doing our preparation well and are mentally prepared for any challenge that mnay come for the next two games. (All set for the semis?) Yes, totally (grins).
Niamh Muir (Scotland captain): (Learnings from today) Just obviously not missing your lengths, having the correct fielders around. If you miss your lengths here it can cost you. She (Trisha) batted incredibly. You've got to be in the right position really, wait for the ball to come to you. But she batted outstandingly. Our main aim was to get out of the group stage. We were absolutely buzzing about it and still are. (Personal learnings from the tournament) It's definitely helped me in learning that I can't make a mistake while batting but also learning from other mistakes. (Word for the fans) Thank you very much for supporting us, we need it.
Gongadi Trisha is the player of the match for her knock of 110(59b) and three wickets (3/6 in 2 overs) with the ball in hand. Here is what she has to say: I have no words to say, thanks to the support staff and the team. (On the power game) We take some time and then go for it according to the situation. We have been working on it for a while and have got used to it. (Favourite shots?) Scoring over mid-off and cover is my favourite area. (Opening with Kamalini) It has been over a year, I enjoy batting with her. (On her bowling) I thought I would get a hat trick but something else happened. (Best feeling as a young Indian cricketer) Absolutely.
5:02 PM local time, 2:32 PM IST: India beat Scotland by 150 runs.
It was expected to be a canter and India, true to their tag of overwhelming favorites, have given Scotland a hiding in their final Super Six outing. A monstrous win set up by Gongadi Trisha's superlative hundred that saw her become the first ever to get to the landmark in Women's U19 T20 World Cup history as India whipped up a massive 208 on the board.
In response, Pippa Kelly reeled off three boundaries in the opening over as she took the attack to Shabnam Shakil. But soon, the spinners came on and applied a stranglehold, sharing all ten wickets between them. Sonam Yadav was wicketless but was economical with Aayushi Shukla standing out with 4/8 as she also found herself on a hat-trick.
Of course, Vaishnavi Sharma couldn't be kept far from a cluster of wickets herself as she ran through the middle-order without breaking a sweat. Scotland lost their way with wickets falling like ninepins and then, they had to bear the brunt of Trisha again. Only this time, with the ball, as she nabbed the last three wickets with her leggies and found herself on a hat-trick too at one point.
A paltry total of 58 is what Scotland could settle for as their campaign rounds to a close. Just to put into perspective the sheer dominance from Trisha, she has outscored Scotland by 52 runs and picked up two wickets more than what the Scots managed. A resounding win again for India - presentation coming up shortly...
Done and dusted! And so fitting that it's Trisha who has the final say in a contest she has thoroughly dominated. India trounce Scotland by 150 runs!
