The Indian River Rowers complete 8 wins in their 8 league matches! Talk about being in red-hot form! They march into the playoffs in style, and will now wait to see who they play. Never at any stage were they in any discomfort in this run-chase, even when they lost a couple of wickets going into the 8th over. The start that their openers gave them helped the Rowers a good platform to build on.
Stephen Naitram and Elton Mark launched into the spinners, with Mark having smashed a couple of boundaries off Redhead in the first over itself. The duo went on to milk the singles going into the middle overs. It took a spectacular effort from Keron Cottoy to break the stand and dismiss Naitram, but the damage was more or less done by then.
Elton Mark and Tahj Tavernier brought the equation down to a run-a-ball going into the 8th over, before both of them were dismissed in succession. Ryan John and Odiamar Honore, though, were as cool as cucumbers. They ran well between the wickets, and then one six from John killed things off in the penultimate over. A couple of balls later, the Rowers were over the line.
8.5 Redhead Nicklaus to Odiamar Honore, full on the stumps, Honore opens the bat face and pushes it to cover for a quick single. So, the Rowers win by seven wickets!
8.4 Redhead Nicklaus to Ryan John, short of a length and angling away, John guides it to third for a single
8.3 Redhead Nicklaus to Ryan John, STUNNING STROKE! Short of a length outside-off, John stands tall and slaps it flat over deep extra-cover for a maximum
8.2 Redhead Nicklaus to Odiamar Honore, short of a length outside-off, Honore hops and drops it in front of point. Single taken
8.1 Redhead Nicklaus to Odiamar Honore, full and angling into the pads, Honor flicks it to deep backward square-leg where Savio runs to his right and dives to stop the ball. Two runs taken
8.1 Redhead Nicklaus to Odiamar Honore, short of a length and down leg, Honore looks to glance it fine but he misses it. WIDE called!
Nicklaus Redhead (1-0-10-0) is back into the attack
The Rowers lose a cluster of wickets going into the penultimate over. Still a run-a-ball needed.
