What a thumping start for Ireland this! A brilliant batting performance, led by Gaby Lewis to post a mammoth total first up, and then the bowlers coming down and doing a magnificent job, as Germany, at no point, looked to be in the hunt at all. Ending up just 32 runs despite having batted all their 20 overs, and having lost only three wickets, calls for some real thinking to be done.
They lacked the intent right from the start and they are going to have to pick themselves up from this kind of a defeat, which is by no means going to be an easy task. None of the batters could get going as they struggled all the way through. Ireland kept it really tight and in control, hardly giving anything away. All of their bowlers were on the money and extremely miserly.
Eimear Richardson was the pick of the lot with a couple of wickets to her name. Lara Maritz picking the only other wicket to fall in what was an exceptional performance from Ireland. They would have liked to pick up a few more but nonetheless, this has been a brilliant game for them, winnings by a massive margin of 164 runs, which will give them a major boost with the net run-rate as well, that could come in handy later on.
That is it from this game then. Lots of action coming your way from the Qualifiers and it looks to get better moving forward. We do expect your company for the games to come and all cricketing action from across the globe. This has been Rishab and Soorya as we sign off. Stay tuned for more!
Gaby Lewis, Player of the Match: Struggled a bit with the heat but credit to our bowlers as we did well in the second innings. These pitches are tricky to bat on but we stick to our process. Looking forward to a nice rest this afternoon. It's huge game tomorrow. Hopefully we can carry the form. It is not going to come easy but looking forward to tomorrow.
Laura Delany: Unbelievable from Gaby, she made it look so easy and got us off to a flyer. Happy with how we performed as a bowling unit. We took our opportunities. We know what Scotland are like and we have played against them. We know we will have to play our best cricket.
Anuradha Doddaballapur: It was a tough loss. Credit to the Irish for batting really well, Gaby specially. We will come back stronger and we are better than that. We knew what we were up against and you learn on the go. I think quite a few bowlers bowled well but our fielding could go up a few notches. Lessons learnt and and a lot to look forward to.
Done and dusted! Ireland romp home by 164 runs and it was only fitting for Richardson to wrap it off with a wicket. Heavy defeat for Germany this, probably the lowest total ever for a side losing only three wickets in their entire innings in a T20I game. Terrific start for Ireland, who are the tournament favorites, and rightly so as well!

19.6 Eimear Richardson to Anuradha Doddaballapur, OUT! The game ends with a wicket! Tossed up into a full length at the stumps, Anuradha comes forward to flick it on the up and straight to the fielder at short mid-wicket who dives forward to complete the catch. This has been a humbling of the highest order for Germany as Ireland win by a mammoth 164 runs!
19.5 Eimear Richardson to Anuradha Doddaballapur, flighted off-break on a good length at the stumps, Anuradha nudges it behind square off her pads as she goes back in her crease.
19.4 Eimear Richardson to Anuradha Doddaballapur, flighted delivery on a good length on middle and off, Anuradha covers the line of the ball to nudge it behind square on the leg-side before the fielder picks up.
19.3 Eimear Richardson to Anuradha Doddaballapur, flighted delivery on a good length outside off, Anuradha swipes at it in vain to end up beaten.
19.2 Eimear Richardson to Janet Ronalds, back of a length delivery that drifts into the batter on middle and leg, Ronalds rocks back to nudge it just behind square on the leg-side before sprinting across the pitch for a run.
19.1 Eimear Richardson to Janet Ronalds, back of a length delivery that is flighted wide of off, Ronalds rocks back to punch it against the spin towards cover.
Eimear Richardson to bowl the final over!
Ireland on the cusp of a huge win here, that is going to give them a big boost early on in the tournament, taking them to the top of the table. Brilliant spell from Maritz as well and we are just an over away from wrapping this up now!
