Galle Gladiators have done the job when it mattered as they finish the match with 4 balls to spare and chase down the total of 144 losing 6 wickets in the process. Gladiators have got off to a great start with the bat as Danushka Gunathilaka consistently found boundaries inside the powerplay. Other batters around him struggled but he kep the scoreboard ticking from one end. Once they lost wickets in the middle overs, it kept coming in clusters and seemed like they might end up on the losing stage. Bhanuka Rajapaksa came in and scored few boundaries when he was in the middle. Later, Lahiru Madushanka struck few lusty blows in the final few overs to help the team cross the line.

Kandy Warriors didn't start well as the pacers gave away some easy runs at the start but their spinners brought them back into the game. Sachindu Colombage was the pick of the bowlers for them with 3 wickets under his belt. Other spinners have also held things beautifully in the middle overs and brought the match to the closing stages. Couple of blemishes in the final overs has costed them dearly and are now on the losing side in this game.

Galle Gladiators have now won two games in 3 matches while Kandy have lost both their matches so far. We are in the early stages of the tournament and there is lot to come in the coming few weeks. We surely can expect more exciting contests in the coming games of Lanka Premier League 2021.

Dhananjaya Lakshan: I tried to take the chase deep.I tried for the single.s The bowling was good.

Angelo Perera: I thought because it was only six runs to get so I decided to bowl and take the risk. We have only limited only a few spinners. But we have a good fast bowling unit. The pitches are helping the spinners. The fielding cost us the match. It is about staying positive and trying to win.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa: The wickets are not easy to bat. Noor is talented. He has a bright future ahead of him. I am proud of the spinners. We have been finishing the matches in the last overs since the last season. But it is not a good habit.

Lahiru Madushanka does the job for his team by hitting a six and a four off the last over when 7 runs were required from 6 balls. He hit the most important blows in the final couple of overs and that sealed the match for them. Galle Gladiators win the match by 4 wickets and 4 balls to spare.
