So first points on the board for Lahore Qalandars and they seem to have a well-rounded unit that promises to do really well in the games ahead. As for Karachi Kings, they continue to stumble and even as they await the return of Mohammad Amir and the entry of a couple of their overseas fast-bowlers, they have a lot of work to do behind the scenes. Right from their brand of cricket, question marks galore and they must seek answers and rectify their mistakes before it gets too late.
Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars Captain): Our focus was to play positive cricket. Rashid played a really important role in the middle-overs after which we bowled really well too. Zaman Khan the youngster is bowling really well. The plan was to rotate the bowlers around and they did very well. There will be mistakes since it's my first stint as captain - I am trying to take tips from everyone around and learn. The way Fakhar is improving day by day, we know he can change the game on his own. The whole credit goes to him and hopefully he will keep winning games for the franchise.
Babar Azam (Karachi Kings Captain): We got a good start in the first six overs. We didn't get a partnership after that to get the total we wanted. Credit to Fakhar for the kind of innings he played - it was a one-man show today. The spinners were getting help from the surface. The fast-bowlers didn't land it in the right areas at the end though. We need to field a lot better and show better attitude on the field. We need to do the small things right in order to win games.
Time for the presentation!
Fakhar Zaman of course is the Player of the match for his blistering century to take his team home!
Fakhar says, I'm just looking to play every ball, not doing anything out of ordinary. I was nudging around their spinners, trying to see them off as long as possible, then if you have wickets in hand later on, it's not going to be that tough to score 12 - 13 runs at the end. Even if you wanted to score a risky shot, you could've taken your chance with wickets in hand, I was sure about that. I'm looking to play to my strengths and it's working for me, these extra slogging is not required but it's come to me very well at the moment and I'm happy about how things are going.
Erin Holland chatting with Samit Patel: Little bit of pressure at the end after Fakhar got out, just think that knock from him does sums it up for us. The way we want to play our cricket, that's fantastic, he's backed it up from yesterday, Fakhar has been in brilliant form. That's Fakhar for you, that's how he goes about his business, I'm sure he's thrilled about that hundred. exactly what was needed when you were chasing such a huge total, pure class. You can see it's all passion and what he brings to this franchise as a skipper, it's great the way he goes about his cricket for Lahore and Pakistan, great to see him. It's good to be back in PSL!
Lahore Qalandars 174-4 (Fakhar Zaman 106 off 60 balls, Samit Patel 24 not out off 18 balls, Umaid Asif 2/30 off four overs) beat Karachi Kings by 6 wickets.
This was a night that belonged to Fakhar Zaman! Too easy for the southpaw as he took the mickey out of the Kings attack who just lacked the bite that was needed to get past him. It was really a one-man show for large parts before Samit Patel added the finishing touches.
170 was always going to be tough to defend but with a couple of wickets in the Powerplay, the Karachi Kings had reasons to believe. Mohammad Nabi was economical and extracted purchase from the surface upon giving it some air while Imad Wasim too enjoyed bowling on it.
That said, Fakhar Zaman deemed them null and void with an exhibition of power hitting, placement and excellent strike rotation as well. As the senior statesman in the side, he stepped up and ensured that he got the job done, notching up a sublime half-century which he went on to convert into a big one.
The best part of that knock was the manner in which the odd wicket didn't unsettle him by any means. When it was there to be put away, Fakhar ensured that he duly cashed in to keep the Qalandars afloat with the asking rate that very rarely exceeded the 10-run mark. Eventually, while he did perish, it was far too late to bring about a twist in the tale for the Karachi Kings.
Game set and match to Lahore Qalandars! It has been a clinical run chase orchestrated by a Fakhar Zaman masterclass and eventually, they've managed to get on the board in this year's PSL. Lahore Qalandars win by 6 wickets with 4 deliveries to spare!
19.2 Lewis Gregory to Samit Patel, FOUR MORE! There it is, Qalandars pick up their first win of the tournament and register their first points on the board. Samit Patel does it in style, pulls that short delivery well over the mid-off, goes trickling past the fence for a boundary!
That should do it then for the Qalandars. The scores are tied!
19.1 Lewis Gregory to Samit Patel, FOUR! Full delivery on the outside off, Samit once again walks down the track, gets some bat on it, squeezes it past the keeper and runs away to the fence for a boundary!
19.1 Lewis Gregory to Samit Patel, WIDE! Change of pace but off-radar, bangs the short delivery and goes wrong. Samit came down the track and let's it go, Umpire signals that a wide!
Lewis Gregory [3-0-23-0] will bowl the final over of the game. He will bowl over the wicket.
A superb over from Umaid Asif and he has managed to stretch the game into the last over. 6 runs needed off the final over! The Kings just about stay alive - can they pull off a Houdini though?

18.6 Umaid Asif to Samit Patel, back of a length on the outside off, Samit on the backfoot slaps it through the covers for just a single. 6 needed of the last over!
The batters crossed so Samit Patel will be on strike.
David Wiese, RHB, comes to the crease. He will be at the non-striker's end.
Now then! Are we in for a twist in the tale? That's a massive moment that just about gives the Kings a ray of hope as Fakhar Zaman walks off. Stand up and applaud an innings for the ages though - you get very few of a better quality than this one!
